The steamer Franklin arrived yesterday from Havre and Southampton. She left Havre on the 22d nit., and Cowes at C P. M., the same duv. She brings one hundred and thirty passengers and four days later news from all parls of Europe. The Africa arrived at Liverpool on the 19th ult., the R iltic on the 21st, and the propeller S. S. Lewis, from Boston, on the 21st. The most int-restins: news in the English papers relates to the gold discoveries in Australia. The aspect of afTnrs at the Cape of Good Hope is still unfavorable. The British troops at the Cape had met with a severe repulse on the 1st of September. The Fnaliah papers freely admit that the career of S r Henry Smith is far from promising a speedy or favorable issne of the contest raging between the conquerors and conr) ue red. The business of removing the goods from the crystal palace was proceeding with great rapidity. Prince Alber4, had written autograph letters returning thanks to each of the foreign commissioners.
