THE MARKETS. Madisoh P.iai Maekct The season has now fairly opened, ai d ihe opening pi ice f ir bogs settled at $2 50 per 00 pounds foi lots averaging 200 pounds nett. 1 here have been several lots puichased for packing, among which we notice a lot of 1.4U0 head, some dsys iure, purchased by Mnr. Shrewsbury & Price at $2 50 per 100 rounds; aud a lut of 2,000 bead purchased ye-teiday by Messrs. White, Mc Nauyhten, & Bower, at $2.50 per 100 pounds. The latter fiim we understand, will commence killing iQ Monday. Moifi. Goodman & Son aie purchasing all the teef cattle offered, at 3 to 3 50. We have been requested to tay that (be firm of White, McNaugaten, & Duwer will pay $2'50 per 100 act frr any quantity nf hois, from five to ten thousand, delivered at lVortb Madison, to be driven down at their expense. Madison Courier, Not. 10. The Cincinnati Gazette of the 9th instant says: H o. Tbe rain last niht caused a change in the weather, and to-night it is likely to be favorable for slaughtering, and to-morrow we may expect a resumption of p icking operating. The only sale heard of to-day was two hundred' head in Covington, average weight 300 pounds gross, at $2 per 100 pounds gross. Good lots will sell at $2 75 per 100 pound net CI.XCLYXJT1, Xov. 10. Flour There was a air demand to-day, for consumption, without change in price. The tales comprised 300 brls city mills, in mill, at 4 40 ; 100 do country at 4 35; 123 do from canal at 4 20 ; 100 do at 4 25, and 130 do from store at same, inspected. Hogs Eight houses were cutting to-day, and the packing business is now beginning to assume its wonted appearance. The weather however is not yet as cool as desirable. Hogs are beginning to come in pretty freely, and the number in Covington and that vicinity, is estimated at about 30,000 head. In regard to prices, wo have no change to note, 2 50 a 2 75 being the range the latter for heavy lot. A number of drovers, who have not made up their minds to accept of current rates, are having their hogs packed, and it is with this business lh.it most of the houses are engaged. Several sales wero effected to-day, but the only lots repotted were 505 head, average weicht 1S5 Iba at $2 t5 net, and 108 do av wt 200 lbs at $2 56. Cattle A sale to-day of 100 head ar wt 550 lbs at 3, 3 25 a 3 50 per 100 lbnet. Provisions The only eitle heard of was 200 brls No. 1 new Lard at 5c, buyer furnishing package. Whiskey The demand good to-day and prices continue unchanged, with sales ot 34,28,22,14, 02,00 and 07 brls from river, 29 do from canal, and 100 do from railroad at 20c, and 37 do (rum canal at 19 7-8c. Republican lays that " a li'eral ttream of hogs is now passing through Charleston from Kentucky to Eastern Virginia. The price the drovers ask here is $3 50 per hundred pounds." Livebpool, England, Market. Papers brought by the Hibernia, state that in American cared provis ions there is a healthy and rather improved trade go- j inj forward. There has been a decided improvement in the bacon market, more particularly the lower qual ities, which readily command very full prices. The eales of beef exceed an average amount at steady ' prices, the market closing firm. lit pork there has ' been a moderate business, at pre ions prices. Hams ! have sold more freely; wiih transactions in. lard, pri-' ccs are rather in favor of the buyers. Early in the week largo sales of Bacon were1 made at an advance of 1 to 2s per cwt. At sub equent sales the trans-ictions wer more limited, but prices were steady and without change. There was a good demand for Pork, and desirable qualities were scarce. Hams of fair quality are wanted and would sell readily at 30 to 3öe. Shoulders s I.l freely at ' from 13 to 21s.
