I'ncific Hail road Meeting A number of citizens met at the Comt House on last Saturday at the hour appointed, and adjourned tu the portico of Wellington Hall. On motin of Hon. O. II. Smith, Jod Wick wae called to the chair President of the meeting. Messrs. D. Mcl'arUnd and II. P. Colurn were, on motion, selectd Vice Presidents, and J. L. Ketcham and Jolm D. DeIre appointed Secretaries. On motion, th Chair appointed Messrs. Sheets, McFarand, Coburn, Filhean, and Delree, a commiitc tu report revolutions for the consideration of the meeting. Wick not being present, Judge Plasm, was ca!Ud to th chair, pro tern. The enmmitte appointed for tha purpose, submitted the following reliitin ; Resolved, That (in the langtj.iga of the St. Louis Committee,) -ihe grand problem of age, in regard to a Weeteiu Route to Asia, it about to ba enlve-d. Kecent event fiave precipitated the result, and made it simple, practical and inevitable." Unsolved, That 'the acquisition of vast territories in the interior, and upon llie western const ol the Continent, and the removal thereto of auch numbers of our people aa to authorize tha lonnoiion of new Stales within a short time, render the immediate resort to the means of sura and easy intercourse, and continued connection wirb tbem, matters of over-ruling necessity." Resolved, That tha construction of a railway to San Francisco would not only serve tobiud more strongly this great Nation in the bonds of mutual interest, t ut would aecure to ua tha inimeiiKe trade of tha Asiatic world. Resolved, That in the opinion of this meeting, St. Louis is the proper point for the commencement of such road, aa to that place several roads from tho Atlantic are now In progress, and will soon be completed. Resolved, That the National character of this work is apparent that no constitutional doubts can eli.t as to the power of the General (overtitnent to render such aid,

Resolved, That our Senators and Representatives in Congress be requested to use their influence to induce the National Government to aid in the construction of said road. Resolted, That we most cordially approve of the assembling of a great National convention al St. Louis on the lClh of next month, to take this matter into consideration, and that it is important thatcentral Indiana should be resosented in that convention. Resolved, That the President of this meeting appoint five delegate lo attend such National Convention. Resolved, That our delegatea to aaid National Convention be instructed to urge upon ita consideration the propriety of calling upon the Legislatures of the different States through which it may be desired to construct roads to unite with the great road at St. Louis, to grant liberal charters to companies formed for that purpose. Hon. O. II. Smith moved the adoption of the resolutions, and addressed the meeting in their support. The resolutions were unanimously adopted.
