Your ob't serv't, Ü. REYNOLD?. Adjutant General's 0; f,cf., Midison, Indiana, St,t. 20, IS 17. Sir On consultation had with Col. S. Churchill, Inspector General U. S. Army, it is found that Friday, the first day of October next, will be the earliest period at which arrangements can be made for the reception and accommodation of the companies composing the fifth regiment of Indiana volunteers, now called for from this State; and that even then, the

tbe times might say, Lepidas had a party, and Anthony
had a party ; but the republic had none. Ia those days it was considered a greater virtue to support a party than to support the country. This war has already kindh d and developed a patriotism which has to a considerable extent swallowed up party. We all have the same feelings of pride and patriotic exultation as we Behold that banner waving yet; Aye, wiving proud ai d high ; No rent in all its imp's folds, No stain of crimson dye. We are one people, in feeling and in purpose one, at one in a bright and glorious destiny, and whtre country is Concerned, party is nothing. One sacred oath has tied Our loves ; one destiny our life shall guide, Nor wild, nor deep, our common life divide.

Ytllotf. Fever In IVciv Orleans. A New Orleans corresjiondent d" the Ealtimore Sun, gives the following heart-rending accounts of the yellow fever in that devoted city : I write in the midst of an epidemic Fuch as New Orleans never knew before. Tn.ly, grim death stalks Unresisted through the streets of this du voted city. Oh, it sickens the heart to see the plumed hearses thronging the cemeteries to fee them liurryiiij along the thoroughfares; unattended, in most cases, by even a single friend, to see the ahes of ihe departed inurned. From early dawn to dark, and in the gloom of night, eable conveyances may be seen witli nodding plumes, like grim sentinels over the coffined corpse within passing hastily towards the depositories for the dead ; and almost hourly the
rolling of the mulfli-d drum, or the mournful music t-f
mellow horn-, proclaim that another of the civic or military brotherhood is attended to the tomb by those with whom he so lately associated. It is' enough to strike terror to the stoutest heart, to walk the desert
ed streets. On every hand are heard the notes of
wo. At one moment the tone of fervent prayer lor the dying strikes the ear ; a little farther on, and wailitigs for the dead break the silence. None are exempt from the dreadful scourge which is wielded by the fell tyrant. Tlie strokes fall ind.Bcriminately, and high and low, and fich and poor, old ind young, totter and fall to rise no more."
