j. appears mal an insurrection had broken out
moD the Indians at Yucatan, the object of which
Was to slaughter all the white inhabitants of that
country. Lut the plot was fortunately discovered in time, although a number of inhabitants have bcn
massacred in several villages.
All the white and mulatto men, together with the women and children of Tepic, were murdered by the
incuans. Urse of their chiefs, Antonio Ay, was taken prisoner and executed. They declared that the plot had been organized for about 17 years. The parly question which had existed between the Yucatecos was set aside, and they all united in order to resist the insurgents. El Silo XIX, a paper publiphed in Yucatan, pub
lishes two proclamations one from the president of
the State of Honduras the other from two Generals, in which they call the attention of the centro-Ameri-cans to the fate of the Mexican Republic, and solicit their assistance in favor of their unfortunate neighbors.
