This ticket was a private and unauthorized nomination, was never published in any newspaper, and wi not known to exist by most of the freemen. A portion of the Constitution freemen exercised their privilege on this occasion by voting for it. Thewho'e vote for both candidate was 7,15; two two town to be heard from w ill make it 7,:50(). Carpenter received SI HO of llnse vote, which leaves but l'J)( for the old charter party, c-s by DUO than the vote given for the suffrage ticket, and less than a majority of the whole number of the Freemen of the State, which is e.-timated at lO.OtiO, so that the Charter party have not a majority according t) this s" I'emcnt of tfir ;; part". The suffrage party, intend, therefore, t carry tht ir (tonistitutioii into operation. The :JJ day of Mav next, is the time that the State officers arc installed. The following notice in the Ux press looks ominous. If each attempt to claim their peats, a collision can hardly be prevented. The various Chartered Military Compinie of this State, and also the Volunteer Coiipaniet, who have been recently formed or may hereafter be formed previous to the 3d day of May, are invited to asist in the Escort, to Le tendered to the State officer on that day. The Military from the Country were requested to meet at an early hour on the day named.
