MEDICAL.

Scrofula, or King's Evil, Is a constitutional disease, a corruption of the blood, by which this fluid becomes vitiated, weak and poor. Being in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, and may burst out in disease on any part of it. No organ is free from its attacks, nor is there one which it may not destroy. The scrofulous taint is variously caused by mercurial disease, low living, disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth and filthy habita, the depressing vices, and, above all, by the venereal infection. Whatever be its origin, it is hereditary in the constitution, decendiiiL' "from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation:" indeed, it seems to be the rod of Him who says: "I will visit the initjuitici of tlie fathers upon their children." Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver and internal organs, is termed tu bercles; in the glands, swellings; and on the sur face, eruptions or sores. This foul corruption, which genders in the blood, depresses the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofulous complaints, but they have far less power to withstand the attacks of other diseases; consequently vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous in their nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint in the systeiu. Most of the consumption which decimates the human family has its origin directly in this scrofulous contamination; and many destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, brain, and indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous; their pajaaaj are invaded by this lurking infection, and tlieir health is undermined by it. To cleanse :t from the system we must renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and invigorate it by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we supply in AYKR'S Compound Extract of Sarsiparilla, The most erTtvtual r?mlj- which the medical skill of our times can derise lor this everywhere prevailing i':ital mnlnde. It is combined from tho most active remedials that have been discovered for the expurgation of the foul disorder from the blood, and the rescue of the aystem Ironi its destructive consequences. Hence it should be employed for the cure of not only Scrofula, but also those other affection? which arise from it, such as EnrPTiVE and Skin Dist.ssts, St. Axthot's Fikk, Kose, Erysipelas, Pimplks, Ptmtrua, Blotches, Blaixs and Boils, Timors, Tltter and Salt Hiieim, Scalp Heap, Kinuworm, Hni.t matism, Syphilitic and Mecvrial Diseases, Dropsy, Dyspepsia, Debility, and, indeed, all Complaints arising from Vitiateh or Impcre Blooh. The popular belief in "impurity of the blood" is founded in truth, foravr ifula is a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and yirtue of this Sarsaparilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in contaminated constitutions. AYER'S Ague Cure, FOR THE SPKKDY (1 RE OF Internilttrnt Fever or Frvrrand Ag-ue, Remittent Fever, 4 lull Fever, Dumb Ague, Periodical Headache, or Billios liradache, and Ilillioita Fcvcra, indeed for the hole elans of disease originating in Hillary derangement, cuused ly the Muluriu of .Tliaamatic Countries. We are enabled here to offer the community a remedy which, while it cures the above complaints with certainty, is still perfectly harmless in any aasataty. Such a remedy is invaluable in districts where these afflicting disorders prevail. This "Cirk" expels the miasmatic poison of Fever and Am t Irom the svstem. and prevents the development of the disease, if taken on the first approach of its premonitory symptoms. It is not only the best remedy ever yet discovered for this cla.v of complaints, but also the cheapest. I he large quantity we supply lor a dollar brings it within the reach of evert boil v; and in billious districts, where Fever and Aoi e prevails, every body should have it and use it lieely both for cure and protection. A nre:lt superiority of this remedy over any other ever discovered for the speedy and certain cure of Intcrnilttents is that it contains no Quinine or mineral, consequently it produce DO quinism or othe: injurious effects whatever upon the constitution. Those cured by it are left as healthy as if they had never had the disease. Fever and A;ue is not alone the consequence of the miasmatic poison. Ä great variety of disorders arise from its irritation, amoiif; which are Neuralgia, Rheumatism, Gout, Headache, Blindness. Toothache, Earache, Catarrh. Asthma, Palpitation, Painful Affection of the Spleen, II y terics, Pain in the Bmrelx, C'tlic, Paralysis and Deramjemevt of the Stomach, all of which, when originating in this cause, put on the intermittent type, or become periodical. This "Ct rk" expels the poison from the blood, and consequently cures them all alike. It is an invaluable protection to iimnioTints and persons traveling or temporarily residing in the malarious districts. If taken occasionally or daily while exposed to the infection, that will be excreted from the system, and can not accumulate in sufficient quantity to ripen into disease. Hence it is even more valuable for protection than cure, ami few will ever suffer from Intermittent. if they avail themselves of the pro tection this remedy affords. Prepare! by Dr. J. C. Weod: Dcnr Sir Tour Hair Restorative is rapidly gaining popularity in this community. I have had occasion to lay prejudice aside, and give your Hair Ke-ia-rative a perfect test. During the year 1.H54, I was so unfortunate as to be thrown from my sulky against a rock near the road side, from which my head received a most terrible blow, causing a great deal of irritation, which communicated to the brain and external surface of the head, from tlie effect of which my hair was dually destroyed over the entire surface of the head. From the time I first discovered its dropping, however, up to the time of its total disappearance, I employed everything I could think of, being a professional man myself; and, as 1 thought understanding the nature of the disease, but was finally defeated in every prescription advanced. These and ne other circumstances induced me to resort to your worthy Hair Restorative, which I have every reason to belive produced a very happy result: two months after the first application, I had as beautiful a head of young hair as I ever saw, for which I certainly owe yon my most sincere thanks. Rest assured, dear sir, I shall recommend your remedy to all inquirers: moreover, I shall use my influence, which 1 flatter myself tossy, is uet a little. Teu can publish this if you think proper. He was induced to use a bottle of your "Hair Restorative," which he liked very much; ami after using soma two or three bottles his hair grew out quite luxuriantly, and he now has a handsome head of hair. GEORGE McSP WK. l.iooNir., Noble county, Indiana, Feb. 5, lisT. Prof. 0. J. Wood, Dear Sir In the latter part of the year 102, while attending to the State and National Law School of the State of New York, my hair, from a cause unknown to me, commenced falling off very rapidly, so that in the short space of six months, the whole upper part of my scalp was entirely bereft of its covering, and much of the remaining portion upon the side and back part of my head shortly after became gray, so that you will not be surprised when I tell you that upon my return to the State of Indiana, my more casual acquaintances were not so much at a loss to discover the cause of the change in my appearance, as my more intimate acquaintance to recognize me at all. I at once made application te the mot skillful physicians in the country, but receiving no assurances from them that my haircüuld again le restored, I was forced to become recoiviled to my fate, until fortunately in the latter part of the year 1S57, your restorative was recommended to roc by a druggist, as being the most reliable Hair Restorative in use. I tried one bottle, saj found to my great satisfaction that it was pnsiucing the desired effect. Since that lime I have used seven dollars' worth of yonr Restorative, and as a result, have a rich coat of very soft black hair, which no money rsn buy. As a mark of my grstttnde for your labor and skill In the pnsluctivn ef so wonderful an article, I have recommended its use to many of my friends and acquaintances, who, 1 am happv to inform you, are using it with like effect. DY, DESIGNED TO BE THE mot effectual Alternatire thst can tie made. It I a concentrated extract of Para Sarsaparilla, so combined with other substances of still greater alternative power as to afford an effective anCdote for the diseases Sarsaparilla Is reputed to cure. It Is believed that such a remedy is w anted by those who suffer from Stnitnerous complaints, and that one which will accomplish their cure must prove of immense service to this large class of our afflicted lel..w -citizens. How completely this compound will doit lias been proven by experiment on many of tbe worst cases to be found of the following complaintsScrofula and Scrofulous Complaints, Eruptions and F.ruptivs Diseases, Ulcers, Pimples. Blotches, Tumo- S.ilt Rheum, Scald Head, Mphihsand Syphilitic Affections, Mercurial Disea-e, Dropsy, Neuralgia or lie Doulou rux. liebility. Dyspepsia and Indigestion. FIryaipclas Rose or ft. Anthony' Fire, and indeed tbe whole class complaints aiislug from impurity ot the Blood. This r.,mound w, he found a great promote! of calth. when taken in the Spring, torxpel the foul humors which fester in the blood at that season of tbe year. B.. the timely expulsion of them many rankling disorders are pipped iii the bud. Multitudes can, by the aid of thi remedy, spare tbemsehes from the endurance of foul erupotins and ulcerous sores, through which the system will trlveto rid itself of corruptions, if noi assisted to do thi through th natural channels of the hody by an alterbative medicine. Cleanse out the vitiated blood whenever Jou find its impurities bursting through the skin in pimples, eruptions or .ores; cleanse it when you find it oh-it-ucted a ixl luo-Kish in tbe veins; cleans it whenever It s foul, and your feelings will tell you when. Fen where lio particular disorder is felt, people enjoy better health, snd live longer, for cleansing the blood. Keep tbe blond healthy, and all is well; but with this pabulum of life disordered there can be no lasting health. Sooner or later e omrthiiig niut go wrong, and the great machinery of lif Js disordered or overthrown. ' Sarsaparil a has, ami deserves much, the reputation ol accomplishing these ends. Hut the world has bees egreriouslv deceived by preparation of it: partly becaoae tbe flmg alone has not all the virtue that Is claimed for it, but piore U-caitse many preparations, pretending to be concentrated extracts of it, contain but little of the virtue of Barsaparilla. or anything ele. During late years the public have been misled by large iH.ttles. pretending to give a quart of Extract of Sarsaparilla for one dollar. Most of these have been frauds upon the sick, for they cot only contain little, if any, Sarsaparilla. but often "no curative properties whatever. Hence, Litter and painful disappointment has followed the use of various extracts of Sarsaparilla which flood the market, until tbe name itself is justly despised, and has become synonymous with imposition and cheat. Still we call this compound Sarsaparilla, snd intend to supply such s remedy as shall rescue uch a name from the load of obloquy which rests upon it. And we think we have ground for believing it ha virtues which are Irresistible by tbe ordinary run of the disease it is intended to cure. In order to secure their complete eradication from the system, the remedy should le judiciously taken according to direction ou the' bottle. urnnrp ST DR. J. . AT ER A CO., LOWKLL, MA -.
