The injunction suit of the Novelty Manufacturing Company vs. Littleton W, T. , .Lodge was dismissed in the Circuit Court yesterday. Plaintiff sued to prevent de fendant from transferring certain patents to unknown par tie?, which hd under agreement been assigned to the company. George V. Bis ell yesterJay filed suit sgaicst John B. Stumph and others to foreclose a mortgage given in lb75 on csrtain city property to secure a note for $10,000, parte! which baa been paid. It is alleged that the property is not worth over 7,500, and that ihr taxes have not yet been paid thereon. Prayer ia made for a receiver far the property and for ?12,C0O judgment. Nicholas McCarty has riled suit against James A. Johnson and others to foreclose mortgages in which the demand apgreatea ?3,au He also tiled a similar suit against .Kotiert B. The work of graveling the western end of the I. and St. L. is progressing rapidly. In Cincinnati on Wednesday C, I., St. L. and C. G percent, bonds were notable for a more active demand and advancing rates. Several hundred telegraph poles have been put down along tbe line of the Terrc Haute and Lcgansport Division of the Vandalla. The Georgia Associated Tratlic Lines oll'dis a rate of $14 2' either from Louisville or Cincinnati to all who attend the Commercial Convention, to be held at Atlauta on the 1Mb, J0th arid 21stjlinst.l by way cf the Wertem and Atlantic Riilroäa. The line is the eamo es Sherman's line of march to tbe. sea, and patses through a portion of country made famous by eome hard-fought battles. Commissioner Dougherty, of the Indianapolis east-bound pool, has returned from the meetiDgof the Central Traffic Association at Chicago. The Chicsgo pool will be reorganized at once, and immediately following tne reorganization rates will be restored at all points. Kates have been ehakey in this city far some time- past, and the managers of the majority of tha lines will hail the restoration wuh satisfaction. The company will erect a building on We3liMaryland street, on wnich work will begin in a short time. It will in all probability be tested on another Indianapolis road in a few diys. Thereport refers to the extensive improvements on the road bed and track during U19 year; aleo the extensions to caal liaids. Taking everything into considaration ihe report makes a favorable showing. :OULD AND THE WESTEKN KOADS. A clcud has again arisen on the horion of the Wc&tern line?, at present no bigger than Jay Gould's hand, but which my assume eoon such dimensions as to create considerable trcuble. As predicted in yesterday Tribune, the representative of Jay Gould's MlKonri Facific has come to the front and demanded a slice of the Omaha and Union FaciGo business from the Western lines. When the Missouri Biver Traffic Association was formed last week the Missouri Faoißc was not taken into consideration. This road has been getting 8 per coat, for its Omaha traffic from the tripartite combination, and it was thought that it would be eatisScd with that hereafter. The representative of the compa y, however, at the meeting yesterday made the startling announcement that hi3 campany had been outcf the tripartite combination since last January, no settlement having ben made since then, and that it now demanded not oaly a share of trie Omaha business proper, but also a share cf the Union Pacific local business. He did not caro to join the pools, but wanted the pcols to give his road a certain percentage out of the general pot. He stated tnat nothing less than V2H per cent, would satisfy him. Of course, the other roads would listen to nothing of this kind. They were willing to give the Missouri PaciSc something for its Omaha business, but did not propose paying ench an amount as demanded. Mr. Olds, of the Missouri I'u itic, has telegraphad for in structions. It is fVared that Mr. Gould will make trouble if he dee not got what he wants, and tha mult of to day's meeting is lcoked for with considerable anxiety. The new poDling agreement was taken np and considered cetttou by section. Oaly a few technical alterations were made. Harier, yesterday morning, a ma tionly hen was cheerily clucking to her downly brcod and industriously scratching for their matutinal meal when there ap pared la tho ky overhead a huge hawk whirling in concentric circles. A sharp notn of warning from tha patriarchal cock hurried tbe feeding fowls to places of concealment, and, followed by the sharp cluck of the old hen, sent tho infant fipting chickens scurrying beneath the protecting wings of their mother. And none too soon came the alarm. The next inHant there was a whirring sound in the air, and, with wiogs close in to his body, coming hrad foremost like a Kbot out of a cannon, the hawk landed among-the panic-stricken brood. But he had reckoned without his host. The old hen had sand in her gizzard and w;n blue. With her wings extended and the feathers on her neck standing apart like quilis upon tha fretful procupice, he met the onslaught of the bird to prey. No sooner had he touched the ground than she was upon him.
