This assassination is the result of a difficulty between Napier and Johncon on the day of the last Presdentlal eltction, when Napier was wounded iu the eye by a shot from Johnson's everready pistol. As soon as Johnson had committed the bloody deed he called to his aid two of his friends, and they were intrenched in Johnson's house at dark last night, dßfy ing the authorities and threatening to kill the first person who undertook the arrest of the murderer. To make it, take six ounces of blanched and pounded almonds, three-quarters of i pound of butter, nine ounces of flour, three tablespoonfuls of pulverized sugar, six eggs and the crated rind of & small lemon. Stir the batter to a cream, mix with it the yelk of the egs and the grated lemon peel, then gradually add the flour and sugar, and mix thoroughly; after this add the whites cf the eggs, whipped until quite white and stiff. Work all these well together into a paste, then roll it out and make it into three round cakes, standing them one on top of the other with a layer of marmalade between each. They must bike in a slow oven. When about half baked pcur an icing over tua top.and put it at once back in the oven to finish baking. The white of one of the eggs used in the cake may be reserved for the icing; it must not be beaten, but it must be vigorously mixed with as much icing sugar as will make it into a paste about the consistency of thick cream, when it will easily pour over the surface of the cake, and will form a thin coat of icing over it. Dcab Sir You have a right to know, and I deKirc the public to know my experience with Gravel, aDd my remarkable recovery through the use of your "FAVORITE REMEDY." I am a carpenter living in this place, and there are plenty of witnesses to the truth of what I pay. Mv first comparatively slight attack of Gravel was ia the year 1578. It passed away, and I had litt:e more trouble until last July, 18S3. One day wbea at work lu my shop I was suddenly ceized with a keen and terrible pain in my left side. I coti8iiltcd tw 0 p&ysicians at once. One said: "lean do nothing for you. Your case ia incurable!" I was frightened and went to tho second, who said little, but gave me a prescription. It did no good. Then began a series of experiences, the aotjy and horror of which words can not depict. Thiuk of itl I was some times taken in tho street, and would fall, writhing with asjony, upon the sidewalk. It was death in life. Thank Heaven, I then heard of -KENNEDY'S FAVORITE REMEDY," through Mr. P. P. Cooley. I had not used half a bottle when 1 passed tnree stones iu succession, one of which was nearly one-half an inch I01155. I persevered with the medicine, the symptoms gradually abated, and I have had no more trouble since. I am well, thanks to you and 'FAVORl REMEDY." Yours most gratenlly, JAM KS 1. KENNEDY.
