The Aspect of the Illinois Senatorial Con tett Chans'd The Demcrati Oatgn eraled by the BepuMlcau. FrRiNFiKLD, 111., May 7. A dispatch re ceivid here from Cass County states that outside of Schnyler County the Republicans in the Thfrty-fourth Sanatoria! District were -0 or to ahead, but up to the present hour, 10:.'5 s. m., nothing has been heard from the former county, although many dispatches have teen sent The Republicans ia the House this morning were very confident that Weaver, Republican, tad been elected. Schuyler County ij claimed to have been the best organize J by the Republicans, and was cot to stronglv Democratic in the last election cs the ctiier three counties In the district. The indications are now, without full returns being in. the Republican candidate is elected. Tbe Democrats now concede the election by from lo0 to 2C0 majority. It is understood now that tbe returns from all the precincts except two are in, but have not b?n received here. So 'ar Ihe returns give Weaver 170 majority, becator Johnson, Democrat, eeat a telepxam to th? Junketin Committee at New leans conceding the election to the Republicans. 12:15 p. m. Lieutenant Governor Smith has just received a dispatch from Schuyler Courty, saying that tbe county gives the Republicans a majority of over 200. Tai, i true, teems to insure a Republican majority. Chicago, M7 7. If the Republicans have carried tbe District it would s;ive the:a lO.I votes on joint ballot. If Sittig and the other anti-Loan Republican should consent to abide by the caucus decrees it would inFsie the election of a Republican to the United States Senate. Tne Senatorial aspect has been materially changed by the events of the past fortyeight hourt?, and Logan's chances app;ar vejy much better, although it is not positively known yet what ilr. Sittig will do. TL at gentleman left for home as eoon as it tecarxe fully apparent that Weaver had been elected to-day. The general Impression Lere is that he will fall into line when the time comes, although he feels sore over the abuse when he paired with Shaw. Logan is now confident of hi3 ultimate sneers. Tae Democrats admit that they were outgeneraled in this matter, and blame themsslves for being to lax. A EE-0P'EK. t Cotnterrat Ion Ittlns in the Chirntro Board cf Trade, Caused by a Declsiou of Unlt'd States Circuit Judge Baiter, at Cleveland. Chicago, May 7. Messrs. Htegins A Gilbert, a Board of Trade firm, his been thrown Into censternation by a decision, yesterday, of United States Circuit JaJge Baxter, at Cleveland, O. The firm sued an Ohio specalater named James McCrea for $32.000 for losses made, it was claimed, on trades by biro. The Jodga not onlyrefii32d to give the Chicago firm this judgment, but summarily ordered, on the other hand, that the defendant be given a verdict against tbe Chicago plaintiffs of 521,000. This result, growiDg out of a technicality in bookkeep irg, has disclosed to nil the other members of the beard that they are in imminent peril of being treated in exactly the same way, and has cieated as much consternation among the members a3 it ha3 to the firm immediately concerned. Just before the McCcoch lard corner collapsed in May, lS3:i, Hurgins & Gilbert bought for Jama McCiea a lot of lard and pork. He lest a good deal and put up $13 003 in margins. All the stuff was bought for Angust. Finally McCrea said he would put ud no more. H and G. kept tha lard, ttey claimed, until Annst, and thea cold out at a lots cf over $30,000. Then they'sold for the less On the trial it was disc ivered tbat H. and G. had very soon after the purchase 'rung up" the trade. It was also disclosed, however, fatally for the firm, that while they had kept ''locg" just 30 mu:h perk and lard, they had not on their bojks in ilcCrea'a account substantiated any new contracts after they had disposed of the ori iv&".s by "ringing up." It is said that ail tfccfe members of the bcord are in substantially tbe eame boat. The loss of .f20,0C0 to this concern has, however, disclosed the paril and to tbceked the fraternity that there is certain to follow a complete revolution in the Bjard of Trade book-keeping. The point in the suit between H. and G. and McCrea did not turn on the principle of gambling, but resulted frcm the fact that II. and G. did not make substitution for offset contracts as regards Section T, Rule 2", of the Beard cf Trade.
