At a meeting of tha Io;al Pasiengsr Amenta AtECCaticnxeaterday afternoon it w9 agreed o abolish all cross road agencies oa May 10. Latea to Atchison, St. Jce and Leavenworth fere advanced. The subject ct eating in tranäit is one vhich baa been agitated o! 1st, and various conclusions reacLed by varionj writer. The opinion ha b:ci ventured by rainy tht the basket loach rr.ll eventually supersede the etinjr-house end dining-room car. The basket lnnc'a in consumed at leisure, and requires no rnmbrsome dining roara Btracgement. It hsj become very popular on a nnmbr of tue Ktsteru railroads, aid will no doubt be patoa many of the Western lines ere long. The engineera ou the Yndalii who run tie limited are anxious to ahow how fast a train can be hauled between Indianapolis end Terre Haute, and considerable riralry lairprucRup as to who can make the best time. The west-bennd limited wai an hoar late in leaving Indianapolis oa Monday. The engite viaa run by N:cfc D-dion. Andy Walker muZe the run a Rhort tinia 330 in nirety-fonr minutes, and I)jdoa attempted 10 teat lhisitcord. In this he faid, bat anccet'e4 in shaiin honors wita Walker, &3 the train was standing at the depo, in Terre Haute joit ninety-four ruinate uf it left Ind anapoUs. A correspondent cf tbe I'aII Mail Gazette compares the fan train of this country, and easily shovrs that there are a great many mere fast trains Lrty ruilca an hour or more there than here. There never was any questioi abont that among v:el!-in fcrrned people. We hava felt justified in fecrre complacency becane we kaveafatf trains which mate espocd tic:e ea the fastest art train abroad. Tnere are. rernars, bat half a dezen buch traina here, ar.d of thoia bicti are not the fa?test, bit ran forty miles an honr cr more, there are scarcely as mtny herp, while there ore icorc- and perhaps hundreds in England. In Iccal railway circle yesterday it se9med pfnerally accepted that the Pennsylvania was a bidder for the control of tbo C, II. aad 1)., end that success depended npon the one question not altogether simple as to whether the Erie mansgtmentcan, in court, establish i?s rieht to vote the pooled ptcck. President John Kiripr. cf the Erie, is no light weight ia a tchl of tblsltind, but the loic of the titvsaiicn arems to bo against him. It is Renfrraliy admitted that itVould bo a big thing Icr tte Pan-Handle and not a bad thin:; for the city, except so fftr as it might ma "way antagonize one of the city's bet-provea friends, the 13 ig Four management, b7 giving the Pan-Hacdle a tbroua line of its oro from Cincinnati to Louis. 'Jincinnati Commercial Geistte. Notwithstanding all the abuse that is being heaped on the fast freight lines by magazines devoted to railway interests, prominent railroad men say that their abolishment would retard the railroad business greatly, and an ofScial of one of the Indianapolis lines said only yesterday that they could not bedietensed with entirely, nor is it likely that they ever will be. In many instances fait freight lice agents are accused of rate cutting when they are not guilty, and one paper has the a?surnption to say that as long as these lines remain In exis'encs rates will be demoralized. This is a "chestnut," and averybioad one;too, for if such was the cae the fast freight lines would have been tHngs of the past ere this writing. Fast fieJght line agents may ba sinners, bat they ar not tear so wicked a c:as3 as same of the Efwppapers woald have the pnhüc believe. Canada is the country of liht railroad earnings. The averegs earnings per mile of the !57" miles in operation for the year to June .".0, 1S I, as reported by the Chief Engineer and General Manager of the Government railways, were j3 401 per mile, azainst $7,01 for tha railroads of the United States in the laat year resorted. The Canada JScnttern led, with 10, COO per mile. Parts cf the Grand Trunk may have exceeded this, bat tte wbcle sjitem 'b given together, earnir an average uf Mi;j.o per mile. It mifiht be thought, pe:hap-, that tte average is brought down by the large rcileeqe ct the new and Redeveloped Canadian Pacific, bat its earnings are aaove the average of the th'rty six roaui, notbe'ov. The complain: is in two paragraphs. Ellis W. Bedpath & Co., for themselve? and others, have Sled suit against Henry Tutewilerand W. G. Cock, his assignee, to eet aside the assignment. Tte complaint alleges that in April judgments were recovered by plaintiffs and others against Tutewiler & Son agreatina f 2,22' .20. Tbe SheriiT levied on lots 10 and 11, in s pan 2 ', but tbe judgments are not liens, because TEtewiler conveyed, by deed of assignment, the real estate to Cook. It is claimed that the several c!aims represented, which have 1 since taken the form of judgments, were created lene before the assignment. Because of the preference given certain creditors in the assignment; therefore the assignment is void, and the deed conveys no title to the assignee. Cook claims to hold ?l,000 by virtue of the deed of assignment, which the plaintiffs ask may be applied to their c'aims, and at the eame time have tbe assignment set aside. The suit of David D. Long "guardian, vs. William Wallace administrator, which is on trial in Boom 3, is a case which was originally in the Circuit Court. The complaint alleges that.
