Fort YTayu licSnsen Unable to Farn Uli Any IteltaM Clew. Chicago, May 2 The employes in the Pittsburg-. Fort Wayne and Chicago Railway Biagoroon at the Union Dapot cm fumUhno clew that promlfes to lead to the i lentlücatioa of the person oi persons who shipped the trunk containing a deal body to Pittsburg. One of the bissaseraea said : "We check so many trunks here every day that it wonld be simply impossible for us to remember anything concerning tbem or the person to whom they belong, unless there shoullbe something cnusnal happen at the time to attract our attention. An ordinary man weighs from 130 tol50ponnd3 and his body could be packed la a trunk very easily. As we handle many trunks that contain ba?ji?e weithin; from 150 to 200 pounds, we could not have our suspicions aroused because Ue trunk seemed heavy. Of course, If a fould odor was emitted from it, we would conclude that it contained a corpie, and would call the attention of the authorities to it, All I know about the trunk in question is tnat it left here .t 3:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon on tho regular rajsenger train, and was checked through to Piiuburg. It was an ordinary packln? trunk. One oi our men thinks it was brougiit heroin an express wsgon before noon by thTe j Italians, an t that it was the Grst trunk caecked for the 3:15 liain. This, however, is only a supposition upon L; part." The detectives here are making a thorough lnvm.'s;tlc!i of tbe mystery, but as yet have: no information to impart. The llody Identified as Pietro Caruso, a Tomier Peanut Vender. riTT?r.rr.;, Jlay There are no nw developments In tne trunk mystery which was developel at the Union Station in tsis city yesterl The body has been lylns at FJannerie's undertakingtcom, and durln; the mominj a lare number of Italians viewed ;the remains, but no one could Identify them. A man answerin? the description of one of the Partie who checked the trunk at Chicaeo wis sef-n fit Unicn tftation last eveninz just before the irurK as openea, but he d;?drp?areu and has not yet been louud. The body will bo buried this evening. Tris tfternoon Mrs. Bonistalli, tie wife of a mitbiieid street Italian c-otif?ctioner, identified Uio remains as those of her brothar, I'ietro Caruso, a former peanut vender of this city, who went to Chicago several years a?.o. Altfcoazh the corpse was very much bloated, and almost black, she is quite sure that it is ber brother. Antonio Sabllno. who viewed the corpse a short time afterward, a'.so iecocrn!zed it as the body of Caruso. He said that he worked with deceased on a railroad near Chicago for a year. He wa always regarded as a peaceable man and was neve; known to pick a quarrel with any one. The Victim lturled. PiTTSEUP.r;, Pa., Hay 2. The remain of Cariuso. the trunk victim, were buried this afternoon, in tfce Union Dale Cemetery, it U now believe 1 ne was chloroformed and iacod in tae trunk, and died of tu location. The fact that Yonilt was discovered in the trunk ana that his lungs were badly congested strengthens this theory. The detectives "here have been unable to discover any clue that would leal to clearing up the mystery. TUE JOLIET STRIKE. Fonr Compauies of State Troops There. Jomxt, 111., May 2.
