Constables Glaas and Beinhold, who were arrested on Saturday nijM at tbe Museum, have besn acquitted by the Mayor. By order of the committee. About 11 o'clock last night the depart ment was called to Carter's eaw-mill, on Lincoln arenas, by reason of a small lire in the roof, which was easily extinguished. No loss. Two Tag walked out with the chain-cans yesterday morning as it started to work:, and began to ecale the rail. One of them escaped, but the jailer saw the other in time to catch him by the lei; and draw him back. Yesterday mornlDg, while Tom Fiscn3 was laying a foundation in the Zoo basement, a hatchet in the hands ol a Icarpenter on the toD of tbe frame-work, fifty feet distant, iln off and hit him on the shoulder, making a very blue epot about an inch in diameter. Had the edge of the hatchet Struck bim it would have killed him.
Tbe Lyra Concert. The fourth, and by far the best of tbe regular Lyra entertainments for this season, was given at the society's hall last evening. The audience was large and appreciative throughout tbe entire programme, which was gotten up with a great deal of musical taste and reilected credit upon the director and those in charge. The main work: for the evening devolved upon the members of the orchestra, who participated in every number but one. Their performance last evening fairly eclipsed all former achievement?, and has firmly established the fact that, as an amateur orchestra, they are capable of interpreting the meet difficult compositions. The overture to "Merry Wives of Windsor" was well executed, and met with deserved recognition. The mixed chorus selections, which were given with organ accompaniment, es tablish tbe fact that, although this feature of the Lyra is a new one, it is the most poaular with the people. The four-part description, "Bauenhockzeit in Kaerten," containing taking waltz and march movements, and representing a wedding festival in Switzerland waa given by the entire membership, and was loudly encored. The difficult soprano solo "Erlking," by Schubert, enabled Mis3 Katie WeDger to display her vocal skill in a manner" highly satisfactory to tho3e present. Mis? Nettie Dietrich in a plana solo, "Capricio Brilliante." with orchestra accompaniment, gave one of the moet enjoyable and finished performances tint has been presented this eeason, her execution at all times being In perfect accord with the movement of the entire orchestra. Sir. Fred Loo mis, ss is always the case, was a favorite, his rich and well cultivated bass voice appearirg at its best advantage in the sdIo, "Thy Sentinel Am I." The gem of the evening, and a new feature in such entertainments, was the beautifnl and skillfully executed cornet duet, "Cheerfulness," given by Messrs Inpalls and OstendortT. These gentlemen, between whom there is such a striking resemblance, ad they appeared on tbe stage were clcthed similarly from head to foot, and much merriment was created at the difficulty in establishing tbe identity between them. Dancing was icdalged in by all present at the conclusion of the concert programme. bpolls. We met J. A. Wilson, of Danville, Indians, from whom we learned that a very strong appeal is to be made to the incoming Collector of Internal Revenue in favor of Hub Lingenfelter for Chief Clerk of the department at this place. There is a warm indorse ment from the whole Central Commit tee of Hendricks County, and words of praise for Mr. L. from J. H. Rice, Auditor of State; E. B. Henderson, Chairman of the Democratic State Central Committee; Joe Relley, Secretary; F. T. Hord, Attorney General; W. K. Myers, Secretary cf State; J. W. Kern, Reporter of the Supreme Court; and John J. Cooper says: "I take great pleasure in giving my earnest support to Mr. Lingenfelter. and will say that if any Democrat in tbe district is deserving of recognition, he is." Judge Ayres says: "I think no better or deserving appointment could possibly be made." v With such warm and universal indorsement, we think the lucky man for tbe first position will consider Mr. L.'a claims favorabiy. Success to you, Hub. I , B. and W. Wreck. Tbe L, B. and W. Road had anotner wreck last night, this time it being a passenger train striking the rear end of a freight train. The accident happened on the Eastern Division, and was at some point in this State, but the location could not le learned. The engine crashed through the caboose and twe freight cars. The fireman jumped to avoid the danger, and fell on a pile o! cross-tics, injuring his feet badly, and it is thought one ot them will have to be amputated.
