Abstract of Dev. J. A, Rondthaler's Sermon at the Tabernacle Church. Her. J. A. Kondthaier, of the Tabernacle Church, preached an interesting sermon yesterday mornicg to a large conrre?ation, taking as his theme "Special Gifts." The speaker began by referring to the trouble in the Corinthian Church when Paul wroto them "to covet tbe best gilts." Th8 stain bad teen brought upon this church by groas immorsiity on the part of one of its members. There hsd been serious irregularities in the celebration cl tbe Lord's supper. The members of this infant church had been betrayed into heated controversies about the ability and integrity of the ditlerent apostles who had preached to them. By reason of the discord brought about by their discustiens the church was so:m cut up into suiall parties arrayed against each other. In the ürst eges cf the church, tbe app.aker said, there were giveu to certain persons recnliar powers called "gifts." Foa "gift cf faith, " for instance, or, in other wortis, an ability to perform wonders. These gifts bad been niven by the spirit indiscriminately. The humblest and poorest miht itceive the mcst valued gilt, while the most prominent might be pasted by. Man who bud what were estimated great gifts wore ct-i.pH ertd superior to thoso who possessed mirier gills This vexed thosa wbo hsd lets etriking gifts, and they becams dissRtisüed and envious. Here the speaker aid was foel enough for a large lire. Tho natural weakness cf humanity soon set the wbo3e into a large bls.a and it burned fiercely, threatening the total destruction of the infant chnrch. Thoie who had what setrxed to bo inferior gifts refufed t uso them. The church they said could not get along without' them. Pan I, he said, meets this trouble with a masterly hand, showing that pcfsestfcrn of gift? chou'd make 20 difference between there. "As we understand gift?," said thi spoatier, "they imply thoaa natural quilitie with which individuals are endowed. We ue the term often in ordinary life. We ciU one a gified musician, a trtltuted artist. Oae man has a faculty for business another his executive ability, another i3 apt ia the machanical arts, bno mied ii inyantive, aaoiher imaginative. Soras ara tactical, other3 are theoretical. Nivr, cna leisou is that we are to honor their respsctiva rMs, talen-s and capabilities They are gifts as rr.uch as the sunlight, tho rain ad tho goM and silier in tbe mountains. I am inclined to bslieve that much of tue failure in life ia thajesuUof people trjingto force themselves fnwajs and occupations that are contrary to their natural qualities. The world hai lest ecme splendid business men became Ibis man or that has, uudsr a fal?3 impreseior, imeined be nsgut to stand in the pulpit and p-each, and ine pulynt his b?ea vacant becacfe eoine rvan who ouht ti 1)?' tbere ii makirg streck of himielf el?ewbsre." A wenun, the speaker stid, al?o cui:ht to have a riht to exercise her natural talents and c biiities. No ono had a right to foice ttr to outlir.o her occupation aid close other el:crs against her. One of the Esddf st eiglits was a rijau cr wonaan out of pi see, atid every ons was out of place when rcorebewas trying t ic that for which tbey were not fitted. It was not rightto fcice upon children occupations for waich tbey bad Deit)5er taste nor ta'ent. ilr. Il)ndtbaier concluded by saying that gifts were natural, grace wss acquired by prayer, by association with Und, and by companionship with the Lord Jesus Christ Roal Estate Transfers, The followina deeds wcre'recordsd Saturday. "This is the most vexatious thing; I could take a good cry," said Mrs. Johu Smith, while showing her parlors to Mrs. James Browa Heretofore I have always gone to Mr. Gall s Carpet Store, and I don't understand how I came to go elsewhere this time. Now that these draperies are up I find the patterns old and out of date, and that they cost me more than those new and elegant fabrics Mr. Gall is having such a rush for." "I never made that mistake but once," replied her sympathizing friend. "Now I always go to Mr. Gall for my Carpets, Rugs, Wall Papers and everything. Even when I look everywhere else I always come back to Mr. Gall. For my part, I never could see why anybody should buy things as old as the hills, when bright, new Draperies, Lace Curtains and everything can be bought at Mr. Call's Garpet House for less money."
