Divorce Day In the Courts Close of the Circuit Court Probate. Judge Taylor yesterday disposed of three divorce suits and two damage suits. The Mechanics Savings and Loan Association has tiled articles for record. Stock, 100,000. The Indianapolis Orphan Asylum bill for $2,151.23 ww patsed by the County Board yesterday. The divorce suit of Margaret Herring vs. Frederick Herring, was dismiesed in Poom 1 for want of prosecution. Jn?ge Taylor yesterday granted a divorce to Et en Birchell from Frederick Birchell on proof of cruel treatment. In the rait cf Carl Lindstone et al. vs. Olof P. Jensen et al. the iury in Room 1 yesterdoy returned ajverdict for plaintiffs for $200. Judge Howe refused to grant divorces in the suits of Lizzie Dunham vs. Janes W. Danham and Klwood Mitchell vs. Kate , Mitchell, Hiram A. Haverstick has eivea $2,000 bonds as guardian of Walter Barr, son of Kufus and Mary Barr. It will be remembered that the ward a father committed suicide last July, after trying to kill his wife. Stephen K. Fletcher, administrator, yesterday recovered judgments in fireclo3are3 against Magie Marsh and others for $183.07; against F. J. Prail and others for $182.93; nsrast J. L. Motheishead and othera for SlCG.77, iu Rcom 3. Motion was made yesterday by the attorneys for the Big Four Read, in the suit of David D. Long, administrator of the estate ol Charles Compton, deceased, vs. the C, L, St. L. ar.dC Ilosd, for damages for judgment on the verdict f:r the defendant. PJainttff was awarded heavy damages by tb.9 jury on the trial. Judge Walker has taken tbe matter under advisement. The divorce suit of John W. Resner vs. Cynthia llesner was called before Judge Taylor yesterday. The defendant is the won. in who has "figured as the relatrix in two or three paternity suits, the last of which was against a bov of sixteen years of age, who was lu the Refcrrn S:hool. Her reputation was shown to bs very bid, and the divorce was granted on proof of ada' tery. A compromi? was effected in the case of Jobn Jenkins vs. ths Western Union Telegraph Company yesterday, and the suit was dismissed. Jenkins sued for failure to send a dispatch as he had worded it to a friend in Howard County, inquiring about the price of watermelons on the track during fair time. Because of the improper sending of the d'spatch no answer was received, and Jenkins was put to extra er pease. Judg Ayres yesterday wound ud the business of the Circuit Court for the present term. A large number of small matters were called up and disposed of in various ways. Among other matters the commissioners appointed to count the billots in the contest tuits of Wright vs. Reveal and Smart vs. Miller put in their claims for 12 daily fcr the services rendered, they arguing that, as tbe law provides for $3 a day, and they counted for two cases at the same time, they are entitled to wages for full services in each case. Ford, of Rockville, will preach this morning at Shiloh Baptist Church. Revival ssrvices commenced at Corinthian Baptist Church on last Monday evening. Central and Trinity Lodges of F. A. A. Mrs. Lizzie Hopkins who has been quite ir disposed is improving to the gratification of her many fnends. The Odd Fellows' sermon delivered by Rev. E. W. S. Hammonds is spoken of in commendable terms. Tbe city school-teachers contemplate organizing an institute for mutual improvement in the industrial arts. Abribara Lwis, the ased father of Samuel and Jetie Lewis, is seriously ill at the family residence, on Fourth street. A Union 8nnday-school has been established on Hillside avenue, which promises an abundant field ol success. Sacramental services will be conducted at Allen Chapel, this evening, for the benefit cf the new converts to the faith. Rev. William A. Alexander, Tailor of th Ninth Piesbyterian Church, has tendered his resignation to take effect in the near 'future. Alferd Taylor, who has been very ill for the last two months, is improving, and hopes are entertained of his speedy recovery. Peter Williams, the venerable barber at the Bates House, is unable to attend to his business on account of a felon on hit thumb. The committee having in charge the programme of Garnett Literary have arranged an excellent list of exercises for to-morrow evening. Reuben Gibbs, a well-known resident, died on last Sabbath. The funeral services took place at the Vermont 8treet Church by a large concourse ot beloved friends.; The many friends of Mrs. Marian Meyer wIU regret to learn of her recent illness which cam es her present confinement to her residence at 423 North New Jersey street. The Lone Star Literary Club, of Christian Chapel, in Committee of the Whole, discussed the question, "Resolved, That amalgamation enould le discouraged," which,
