The following ia a complete list of the clcbj that will be represented at the meeting of the new Weitern League at the Grand Hotel cn Wednesday next: Indianapolis, Cleveland, Toledo, Milwaukee, St. Paul, Kansas City, Terre Haute and Diyton. Manager Walking, of the home team, is rery sanguine over the prospects of the new League, and eajs that Indianapolis has a good show to win the championship, for the nine that it will pat in the field will be a very strong one. The following la a list of the players and their respective positions: itlcKecn. Casey and Miller, pitchers; Keenan, Robinson and McGuire, catchers; Mc leery, first base; Collins, second base; Phillips, abort atop; Donnelly, third base; Tcomrson, center field; Moriarity, left field; Pcreman, right field, and Crane, extra. McGuire, it will be remembered, worked behind the bat lest year with Toledo, while Foreman pi eyed right field with the same club. Both of them are splendid ball players, and will strengthen the home team woadarfully. The Treasurer's report showed that the financial affairs of the association are improving, the liberal response to calls for contributions being rery gratifying. Mrs. Fleming in her monthly report for December stated that the school closed on December 21 for a winter vacation, the room being large and not comfortable such cold weather. The Christmas festival was a success, and even at this late date the thanks of the association were due Mrs. James lies, who sett twenty dells beautifully dressed and in the cunning little pocket of each doll wai a new ten cent piece. Bone, for some time past connected with the News, assumes tfce position of city editor, with George M. Pavne and Clarence Goodwin, as reporters, Oliver T. Morton will be chief editorial writer. Mr. Bone is succeeded on the News by Mr. O. R. Johnson, for many years connected with the Joe mal. The gentlemen who retire from the Tines, as well as those who succeed to the several positions, and likewiie Mr. Eone's successor on the News, are well known to the people of Indianapolis, and in their several fields will have the beat wishes of a best of friends. Almost Suffocated. Charles Henderson, with his brother and sister, had a narrow escape from death, by suffocation, Friday night They were visiting friends at IC3 East 8t. Joseph street, and closed the damper of the bi33 burner so as to force all the gas from th stove into the house, Instead of allowing it to escape through the fiae. One of the boys arose at 5 o'clock yesterday morning almost suffocated, and by hard work managed to dye. the alarm. All those in tbe bocse were seriously prostrated, and it was necessary to call in m'dicalaid. Another hour wcuM have proved fatal to onaormore of tte inmatetr. A greater danger was run m tbe danger of explosion, which, had it occurred after the gas escaped for several hours, would have torn the house to pieces, and proved fatal to all the Inmates. Sergeant Reed Resigns. Sergeant John Reed, of the Metropolitan police force, tendered his resignation yesterday. He will run the merchant beat formerly patroled by "Uncle Billy Williams," There are a large number of candidates among the Republican memoers of the force for Mr. Reed's position, and it was rumored last night that Patrolman Michael Rafferty ttould ta tfcs lucky can.
