The Health Board. Ths Health Board met yesterday afternoon in tke health efflce to transact the regular business. President Murphy, of the Metropolitan Police Board; Drs. Brennan i and Wands, and Messrs. Kregelo and Herrman were present. After the allowance of a number of bills, Mr. Kregelo, for the undertakers, stated that his brethren have had considerable trouble heretofore in obtaining shipping permits in some cases. He said that when a death occurs a physician rarely succeeds in obtaining sufficient information to rill oct the blank death returns. In many Ca. tie frith, c&as of parents, etc,
are emitted, and In feme cases but one or two blanks are filled out. .he reason Is that in most cases a physician does cot like to disturb tbe relativen when a death has occurred. The undertaker is sent for, and while preparirg the corpse he finds out all the material facts. The body is to be shipped on the next train, which may be dne in sixoregit hours. Inquiry at the Health Offic tho & the death return haa not yet been made, and uttil it is made no shipping permit will be issued. The undertaker has to hunt up the doctor, bnt freqnwitly learns tbt v'e is in some unknown psrt ol the city attend irg ether patients, and can not be found for ten or fifteen hcura. The relatives are at tb'derct, and are compelled to go on alone or wait till next day, when the shirping perm't can be obtain d. This, Mr. Kregelo said, was annoying to every one concerned, an I re surcested that the Secretary be order I (o furriiab a Lipping permit udod the state ouents furr.ifiia ou a duplicate blank by thundertake, who also should be reauircd fi write the name of the physician on the b& "f the blank. The permit being issued, t -o fcr.tralisco Ir.rger interrupted, and t 8 rhyndan can tht-n cone into the Heal o Oßic, rill in a blank from that furnished ij the undertaker and si?n it, thus alio savl' g him oner ce,ary trouble. Qaito a d i ecus'!on ensued, and a number of objections were enVred, Firally ths plan was adopted Tie board also has had an ordinance prepared providing for the cende jmation o! xrr.ure meats, ve?etab, etc , by the health llicer?, and prohibiting the ha-uiing of ctarch slops tbrongh the city unleis in air tiht tanks cr barrels. This is to b.i presented in the Council at the next meeling.
