The bi.l appropriating ?10,0ö0 for Purdue University passed the House yesterday by a Tote of 73 to 13. The discussion of the merits of the bill was quite animating, Smith, of Tippecanoe. Williams of Knox, and Harrell, of Franklin, taking the lead. The joint resolution of the House proposing aa amendment to the Constitution making the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Auditor, Recorder, Treasurer. Sheriff, Coroner and Barveyor four year officers, and making so one eligible for a second term for a period of eight years, was carried by a vote of SO lo S. The bill introduced by representative McHenry making the office of County Superintendent elective by the people came to a third reading yesterday. It brought forth the greatest discussion yet, and after being bitterly fought was defeated by a vote of Zr to 00. Representative Gordon entered a motion yesterday afternoon to reconsider the vote by which the bill prohibiting the playing of ball on Sunday passed. This objection to lae bill is that it is too broad in its pro visions and it should be confined to a few t-pftificntioriS. The reason for the resolution was that the affairs at Knightstown were to be investigated, and that no Trustee ought to be selected until that investigation was concluded. William A. The Lyra Concert last evening, at the Washington street hall, was as fine an entertainment as has yet been given by the society. The hoase was crowded, all available space being occupied, whicn testifies to the popularity of these concerts.
