Henry Wilkinson, colored, under arrest at the Central Station for petit larceny, late last night attempted to hang himself in his cell, aaing his suspenders instead of a r jpa. The suspenders broke, however, and Wilkinson fell to the floor with a heavy thud, attractiogtthe attention of tome of the other prisoners, who informed Turnkey Stout of what had happened. Wilkinson said that death was preferable to a term in the penitentiary, and that waa his reason for attempting to break his neck. Lyra 1111.
