The wholesale markets generally are reported inactive, but a better emand is looked for, and a feeling of steadiness Is prevalent. Dry goods ara on a firm basis, and prospects of an improved trade are fairly fiatterlnz. The grocery market continues stea 7, though a little slow, with no developments worth of special notice, as prices remain unchanged. Dried fruits, canned goods and fish remain quiet. Dairy products are in bet ter demand, and butter and cheese are both very firm. The cold weather has created a firm market for eggs, which will probably advance early next week. The demand for apples is fair, grapes are hardly inquired for, and while there is a good demand for lemons oranges remain quiet. No chance is reported in the drug market.
