lincard A REWARD of two Hun. dred dollats will be given tdr the ipprchf nsion and conviction of J AMKS S HYPHENS, a boy, and late a Muh Carrier on the route from Russelville to MorgauuVid, (Ky.) Said Stephens robbed the Mail on Sunday the 14th of May, on his route to the former place, bout 4 miles from the latter; and on Wednesday the 17th, on his teturn from Russelville to Morgan field, about 8 miles below Greenville. I Us depredations are supposed to have been extensive & frequent. His robberies were committed without injury tothe male-bag-?, by drawing the tetters the packets through the holes cn the mouth thereof. Many Snutilated letters, and some cntire post-bills and wrappers have been found; some of which 3re in the possession of Mr. Weir, P. M.at Greenville, (Ky.) When the above letters were brought to Mr. Weir, he despatched two gentlemen in ar suit of the robber Thqy anested him on Saturday night, the 20th ult. at Morganheld, whence he made his escape from them the next morning (Sunday.) I have since been in pursuit of him, and am inclined to believe he has gone down the river towards New Orleans. The fuher who resides in MadLonville, Ky. werit after his son the moment he heard of his escape 2nd had not returned when I hx passed through that place. Whether he succeeded in find, ing him, or vent to aid in his tiint, I know not. Fortv do!Im in Georgia bank notes, is all the money iccovcrcd ot the boy, and whvJi he confined he had stf'lvu trom the mail. The more) is in the possesion of Mr. Wtir, or M.Wcub ot Greenville, whence the letter tame that contained it, its de-tin. ninn ancl who was the writer he pretended not to know. Said boy has two brother:, young men, theeideu a tanner nd courier, residing r.ear si; utiles from Evarvilk, in Indi3 i, on the rod to Princeton aa Vlpcenne::, and it i ii-j. improbable he m iv f.etk reiuire vit'i them. lie foi mtiy raid on the n ute from JopLinsvdle to Ueiuler-jon, Ky. and is vel! known at th: latter place and cn the road to Maduouviile. He lus been heard to tell jbispaients that lie would runaway to Orleans, and thence proceed to ca. The said James Stephens h about 4, feci 9 i tubes high, t.iid to be under 14 eats ot age, rather stout and tull in his pcrtron, biir light, eyes blue lace round, full and iiokled. His appearance is good. He is said to be nuu h addicted to lying and to pets an uncommon share ot art & cunning for such a youth. He hid on when he escaped, a black iiat and shoes, a short coat of pale mixed domestic blue is: white, and twileo pantaloons of the same colour, ihe two latter articles were recently pur. chased newat Moiganiield, with money robbed from the mail. It is probable he will change hU iuine and apparel, ihe subscriber will pay the above regard for his apprehension. A. B. LINDLET. J gent Gen. Pest Office, June 31.
