POETRY.

From the Union. The Grave of the Duellist. Who sleeps beneath this dreary mound? Whose ashes here repose ? Say not 'tis holy, hallowed ground There's blood upon the rose Does there a hero sleep beneath? Some chief of spotless fame ? The flowerets here no -fragrance marble speaks his name ! Is it the lover's withered form, That lies so dark and low ? 1 hear no requiem but the storm No mournful sound of wo 1

Is it religion's humble child, That sleeps in silence here ? Around this spot so dread & wild, I view no friendly tear. NO he whose dust is here enshrin'd, Possess'd a Ruffian's heart ; No wreathe, by Beauty's hand entwin'd Did fame to him impart. Religion wept not o'er his grave, No friend his loss did mourn ; He lived, of Honor false, the Slave He did his Country's Scorn. BOSTON BAKD. LEVENWORTHSVILLE iS laid off, at the Horse Shoe Bend of the Ohio, in the county of Crawford, state of Indiana, on a high bottom, which is never overflown at any stage of water. This town possesses many and peculiar advantages: besides the several good springs which rise in the bottom, there are many, which issue from the elevated lands adjoining the town, which, with very little expense by the means of aqueducts, will furnish the same with fine water ; Its situation on that point of the Ohio, where the river extends several miles further north, than any other place between the falls and the Mississippi, is a circumstance, that will not escape the notice of our industrious and enterprising citizens. This place will probably be the deposit for the exports and im. ports of the counties of Crawford, Orange, Lawrence, and part of Harrison, Washington, Monroe and Dubois, as it is the nearest point of the river to the country comprehended in the above named counties, to which good roads can be made. It will without doubt become the place of deposit for the many merchant mills, that will be erected on Big Blue river, which is one of the best mill streams in this state. This town has a convenient and safe harbor at all stages of the water, for vessels of every description that navigate the Ohio. LEVENWORTHSVILLE is distant from' Big Blue river 2 miles west, from Louisville 39 west, from Corydon 14 west, from Salem 31 southwest, and iromi'eola 27 south.
