CHANGE IN OCR BCHWtUff: Tbo Indiana fichodlI*w seems ' susceptible of great improvement.— : And how ranch more valuable must be educational improvement, then j materiel ones? Would not philin* , tbropbiiU do well to offer * premium 1 for e ichool lew best adapted to onr I Suit? Without the atlmolpa of inch a premium, Wi Will venture a few aaggeitioua. I. Tbi Towssaifi. Let tho Trustee, to gather with the District Directors; constitute a Township School Board. t They should have the exclusive power to imployor dltmiss Teachers. This would secure equality, harmony and efficiency. It would prevent the ceaseless ‘ bickerings 'consequent oh onr present'"everybody's business’* ■plan. ’ They should decide whit trxt* books should be used. This would secure uniformity incur schools and prevent a constant changing of books. All school 'business, each .as locating and erecting school hoilses, etc. One dollar need not be added to the expense. Good men wonld willingly act as-directors without pay. 2. The Coujstt. The Coonty Examiner be elected by a Convention of > these Township Boards fur a term of two years. . He should license none but qualified Teachers. , The present custom to license everything that has a half dollar is simply au unmitigated fraud and outrage. He should visit each school in the county at least once a year; and also deliver a course of educational lectures in each township. He should exercise a general supervision over all tbe school interests of the county,, This would secure better teachers, a more careful expenditure of money, and create fargreaterinterest ineducaion throughout the State,.3. School Tebjj. The public Schools should be kept open at least six months in tbe.year. By properly, curtailing State expeoditeres and wisely managing odr 86.000,000 School Fund,, this may be accomplished without increasing onr tax. At present • onr. public schools are almost a failure, averaging tuil little mote than two months annually, a longer time is a ntcmity. The great political contest is ended. The public mind is now ready for more important considerations. We Urge tbe importance of our %SchooI Law being disc- s»ed iu every-paper fa t:ia State. The above changes are thought to be of vital imporume. If any friend will suggest better ones, we will heartily advocate them, - It is only a few weeks till the Legislature meets. Now is the time to work.— The people should decide what changes will be best and earnestly insist on our Legislature making them.

"I'd gel down and lead him, sir." "And what if be were obstinate, and wouldn't budge an inch?" "Then I'd take off the bridle and walkbome," aaid Johnny, who had made up. his mind not to admit the necessity of coercion. -
