Thu late meeting of the Grand Tom pie vof the Stats of Indiana, at Terre Haute, was truly eocoungiog la every lover of the Order.. The representation was larger and more enthusiastic than heretofore. Provision was made to.employ llev, M. P. Gaddis, of Cinema ati, or Rev. M. II. Post, of Logan sport, aa State Lecturers. Everything passed off pleasantly, and the members determined to spread what evciy one present balieved to bo the best temperance order of oiir day and State. The officers elected ato as follows :

They selected another “beautiful plat'.' immediately bit the banks of tho aforessid “broad silvery Ohio," and prepared the ground, as tafere, by "clearing away' the brash and leveling it,"*(a, very good way and’ quite natural.) Some of them ara.entirely faded; others scarcely legible, while a few names, including the bold one of John Hancock, are quite plain. In tho Treasury Department, wo Were shown the book kept by Gen. Washington, of his personal expanses during tho entire war. It baa been carefully preserved, and looks better than many account boohs not ten .years old. Washington kept the book in the best style, and must Wo used great care, as we failed to notice a single blot -or~ao illegible word o'r. figure in it.
X-sT Some years since, Lewis Washington, a descendant of the General, presented ro the State of Virginia the lot of land in in Westmoreland county, on which srood the house in which the Father of his Oou ntry first saw the light of day. ThU was done with a view of haying the spot marked bysoma smtableiUonUmeiit by the State. Last week the Governor and Secretary ofState visited the spot, in order to examine into the present condition ofthe .“birth place of Washington.” It is proposed to have the ground, about an acre, enclosed, and aroadway made to it. It lies on the Potomac river. A monument will be put up to designate the spot. A piece of the hearthstone of the ancient edifice (perhaps the only remaining relic) is now in the State Capitol at Richmond.

The C. P. Act Valid.— Yesterday the Supreme Court decided the late act of the Legislature reconstructing the Common Pleas Courts and redistricting the State, valid. As we have not seen the ohmion of the Court we do not know the ground of this decision, hut it is of noconsequence so far as the action to he taken by the people is concerned.
