Arab Gjutitcde.—The Light,or the Ha xem.—During a succesful medical career of mote than twenty years, in the coupe of which he has visited every quarter of the globe, ft may be well supposed that Professor Holoway has beer, the tecipiert of many. distinguished marks of honor ind confidence. As the originator of a system of neat meal which has swept over the world 'villi a force end rapidity that, in Ibis e»plighteii.id age, are the prerogatives of- Truth, Ms fame everywhere proceeded him. Even in travels In; Arabia, aoKe years ngo. be found that his name, and discoveries were well known to the illieikE of the various tribes, ond deputations' of Arabs met him at voitous points of. his joiinuy, soliciting the great “Hakim," j[llirit name for physician' tp visit their tents apd administer to the sick. ' At every encampment: he was received with the most profound respect, which deepaned into absolute reverence its the effect of Ids' wupdetful remaiiies.wss witnessed by those children of the wilderdess. Some of bis adventures kmong them were quite of a romantic cas t. One of'their chiefs, a majestic old Uedoun. whose favorite daughter had. been for yean affected with a scoibulic disease, was so carried away with rapt are at her recovery under Professor Holloway’s hands, tliat/.in a burst of gratitude , he offered him half of his flocks and herds, tf lip would rqpiain with the tribe and be tls guest for life. While visiting pqnstantinople, on bis return home, he had au audience of the Sultan, v and was requested to' ; prescribe for a layoxite orfa/fiqiie in the imperial harem, Vho had been pronounced incurable by'lhe Turkish doelurs. She - was a Circassian slave of surpassing beauty, and realized in her fmin and face the description of “Vuung Nonnahel" as: t}? v scribed in Lalla Rookb. Her disease was dyspepsia, aggravated, no doubt,' by the r»ui, created by a sequestered and monotonous life. Within a month,'however, Professor Holloway’s great'medicine, with the aid of daily exercise in the gardens of the Seraglio, accomplished a corn* plete cure ' and he sabsequentiy received an antograph'letter from the 'Sultan, thanking him in the warmest terms,' for restoring id health the “.Light of bis Harem.** ;No sooner was the news; of Ibis cure noised through Constantinople,-than the lodgings of the ‘-Great Prank Physician” were littetally beseiged by dyspeptic Pashas and bjllious Beys,'and; from the period of.bis departure to the present time, tbe demand upon his agents in Constantinople for the remedies that bear bis name, has continually increased.— "Dr. Liting*fon’» TVopf*.”
