A special despatch to the Republican says Capt. Simpson and party reached Leavenworth yesterday morning from California, via Camp Floyd. The Captain reports his return route from California to Camp Floyd better than the outward one; htoh [sic] 250 miles shorter than the Humboldt river route. Simpson, also, by direction of General Johnston, explored the new pass through the Unita Mountains, which will shorten Gunnison's route to Camp Floyd about 100 miles and in case a pass is found through the Rocky Mountains directly east of Unita [sic] river, a route will be obtained shorter than any now to cross the plains. ~~~~~

Important Decision.— Judge Applegate rimdored an important decision with reference to changes of; county boundary lines, in the Common Pleas Court, at Frankfort, last week. A portion of Clinton county had been annexed to Howard, and an action was brought to test thb power of the County CommisGtonora in the premises. The Court held that tho law of 1852 was still in force, having never been repealed directly or by implication, and that the act of 1857, conferring power opon the Hoard of Commissioners of two or more counties to change the boundaries, was therefore inoperative and void. The power to change county boundaries remained in the State as provided m the law of 1852. —Lafayette Courier.
