Tbo Aslor House is in Broadway, aqd'Utfs ia a wide, and comparatively straight street; hat it seems strange that finch a crowd of men, carriages, and beasts, conld be rapidly passing and rofmssing each other, so many hoars in a day, and that not one single accident shoald’happcn for months together—that "nobody** should be "killed”—and stmpgcrstil! that "nobody** should bo "hurt.** This might puzzle an inexperienced countryman, as I was onco, and at first sight it did puzzle mo, but you very soon sea tho reason tcAy. The law regulates the driving, and banco you see nothing faster than a trot. No Tohiclo dare drive over n footman, crossing tho streets, and no footman dare, for hii life , to be rua' over.— Hence, Caution, which is the Parent of Safety, pervades both parties, and no accidents happen.
