On Wednesday morning last this place was visited by a heavy rain, thunder and lightning. The old mill warehouse, on the brink of the river at the foot of Washington st., was struck by, lightning, and Mr. Smithson, who was in the building at the time, was slightly shocked by it. Some time afterwards a bale of hay was discovered to be on fire. ~~~~~~~

NEWSPAPER BORROWERS. It looks very small to be continually borrowing a newspaper, particularly when an individual can have one of their own for the trifling sum of two cents per week. During the past two weeks we have furnished to subscribers a large number of extra copies of THE REVEILLE, for the reason that their neighbors had either taken them out of the office, or borrowed them before they had time to read them. Now, wo do not propose to do this again. If their neighbors are too STINGY to take a paper of their own, and they will still persist in lending them, they must look to them for their missing copies, as we are not able to furnish two copies for the same price we do one, and at the same time have many of our present list of subscribers owing us for from one to five years. Will those who have hitherto been in the habit of lending THE REVEILLE, gently hint to the borrower that the paper can be had for $1,00 per year! We know that although they seem willing to lend to the person borrowing jt, yet as soon as they out of sight, they think to themselves, that the borrower "might take a paper of his own, instead of running to me to borrow mine every week—I expect that's the last I’ll see of it!" ~~~~~~~
