The landings at the foot of Main and Washington streetss arc in a, miserable condition, and no steps appear to be made to .make them any .better. The entire wharf privileges are sold cnt for' the pitiful sum' of SI50.00 a year, and not all of this amount, webolieve, comes into the Corporation Treasury. ‘ These wharfs, if properly matmged, would bring the Town S 1,000 a-year, : and at least onodiaU this smoont ought to be expended in im. proving the landings. ; %Ve aro informed that the wharfage collectable from flatboats alone will reach nearly if not quite $500 a year, and certainly the steamboat Wharfage will amount' to as' much, and probably more;
