——>In another column will be found a notice of property caught in the river, supposed to be from the wreck of the Nat. Holmes. This property was caught near Patriot, in this county, and the gentleman who caught it, has complied with the law on the subject, as all should do who capture valuable property in the river. Every year considerable property is caught in the river, here, and at other landings in the county, and yet how seldom do those catching it comply with the statute, in such cases. It may not be generally known by all the wreckers along the river, that they are liable to be prosecuted, and hcavily fined for using or disposing of "estray" articles caught in the river. The law is plain on this subject, and would be well for all concerned to keep their eyes open, and not be caught in violating the law of the land. A <hint> to the wise, ought to be sufficient. ~~~~~~~
