(CTTlie steamer Madison, which was- sunk on Monday at Aurora, by corning in collision with the steamer Iowa, was one of the .Cincinnati .and New Orleans Packet l.inc, recently established between the two cities, and was valued at 812,000 'on which there was an insurance of $8,000. Iter cargo consisted of -(05 hogsheads of sugar, 1,050 barrels of, molasses, 36 tiercca of rice and 5 tuns of wire, valued at $05,000, principally insured on open policies in Cincinnati Part of the molasses can probably be saved, but thf 'remainder of the cargo, together with (he boat, will prove a total toss.

Of the expenditures, only SC.60.1 were paid out in the shape of premiums.
