I Tbo North American Telegraph Asso- ; elation, cpmposed of .the leading companies now owning and wojrking the main lines from N. F, to N. O., and from Quebec to the western border of Missouri, j closed a three days* session hero last Saturday. Thej Association was organized by the appointment of Peter Cooper, of [tins city. President, Cbas. A. Mann, of Utica, Vice President and A. A.Levelt, j Secretary. A targe delegation from the several companies attended, and the practical, business-like manner in which the matters for advisement were disposed of gives .promise that'tha’hniineis of telegraphing his, at least, fallen into hands competent to systemize and make it, as it should be, a means of reliable and rapid communication throughout the country. Among (bo tnany important subjects of consideration which occupied the deliberations of the Association was the easly construction of a jeliablo line to California; a committee was appointed to adopt prompt and efficient measures for the progression of the important work.' The aggregate capital of the com panics composing the Association is between $5,000,000 and $0,000,000, operating between 30,000 and 40,000 mitea. of wire. Arrangements, we learn, are m progress to consolidate the House printing line between New York and Washington with the line ofthe'American Telegraph Company, thus placing the latter Company in Immediate communication with Philadelphia, Baltimore, , Washington, and removing the last obstacle in the way of a speedy extension of the printing tejegraph lines along the seaboard to New Orleans.
