The secret of his success lies in the fact that instead of ono hundred loads of manure as formerly, he now mokes throe hundred and fifty loads, supplying his yards freely with‘absorbent earths, and using salt, lime and plaster, to considerable extent. ! In 1851, the products of the 41 acre farm in usual farm crops", : were'worth a fraction under $2,,000, the net profits §1,110.7 5.-^ — There were twenty-three acres in mowing; thirteen acres in com and potatoes, three in barley, and two in-wheat. The editor of the Maine Cultivoter published a few days ago, his management of an acre of ground, from which we gather the following results:— Gne-third of an acre of corn usually produced thirty bushels of sound corn for grinding, besides some refuse. This quantity was sufficient for family use, and for fattening one large or. two small hogs. From the same ground he obtained two or three Irandredipumpkins, and his family supply of beans. From the same bed of »six rods square he usually obtained sixty bushels of onions; these he sold at §1 per bushel, and the amount purchased his flour. Thus, from onethird of ah acre and his onion bed, he obtained his breadstiifls. The rest of the ground was appropriated to all sorts of vegetables for the summer and 'winter use—potatoes, beets, parsnips, cucumbers, cabbage, green own, peas, beans, melons, squashes,&c., with fifty or sixty bushels of beets and carrots for the winter food of a"cow, Then he had a flower garden, also raspberries, currants and gooseberries, in great variety, and a few choice apple, pear, plum, cherry, peach, and quince trees.

From The year 1845 to 1855 the average yield of.wheat in this and adjoining counties, according to my record, was less than eight bushels to the acre, the very best being 33 bushels. Indian convsawu broadcast at the rate of from one to two bushels will yield a larger average, but when planted in our usual way produces from 30 to 100 bushels to the acre.

I lay off the ground two feet each way, and put four grains to each hill, and 'keep clean till the next harvest. •It must be pnt in early, no matter how soon after harvest.
