Gov. McMullen of W. T. is here; he says the Indians west of the Cascade mountains were friendly, hut it was feared they -might he iniinenced by those east af. the mountains who defeated Steptoe. A vigorous campaign against them and a severe chastisement will, however, probably produce a generdl peace among the savages. The Indians from the BritishHussian possessions are in the habit of plundering and killing settlers in the most exposed portions of the Territory, Gov. McMullifi says.
