Crops. ' 'drain Ls'genemlly now cut in thlscmmty. There Is much complaint among thd fanners about Wheat; some fields - will hot bfe cut at all; this crop y \vill not be very good.. Hay will be good. We copy the following from the Indianapolis Journal: —As the wheat harvest comes neirer we get more certain information of . its value. Some farmers in this . bounty have been cutting during the past week, and irfany will begin this week. There* wi ll be little wheat standing in seven days anywhere south of the National roil, and the harvest will he well under .way throughout the North ‘in that time. What the bad weather has done to the crops is known now nearly as well as it can be told till the wheat is in •market. The information we get *as this;;developmenf progresses is not as pheering as it might be, though it is not so bud as. was . feared during the M wet term.” — There is a- good deal of light wheat, and some that is hardly .. wheat at all, in fields that promised well up to the day the harvest began; We have heard of * several fields in which.a vigorous growth of straw,, and Ityrge and well-looking heads, contained nothing. It would be loolish to .'O' suppose that this visitation is con fined to the few fields- we -have heard from, and we are compelled to believe that a considerable portion of the Imryest in this county will be light, lint, on the other hand, we .hour that very good grain has been cot in the Vicinity of the affected fields—rsome its •good as lias been harvested in any ordinary yeap—and .there an.* local ities i 11 wh i eh li o rn st or hi iglit lifts been seen at all; and from Avhich n full crop is nntiWpatcd.
