WASHINGTON, June 15. Gen. Scott has received important official despatches from Utah, five days later than those received by the President from Gov. Cumming. The Mormons have deceived Gov. Cumming. there is no disposition to make peace. After removing their women and children from Salt Lake city, the Mormons had returned, strengthened their posts, and assumed a threatening attitude. This intelligence the Department considers perfectly reliable. Powell and McCulloch, the peace commissioners, were delayed by floods and rivers. Copt. Marcy, was six days from Camp Scott. Gen. Johnston's forces were on short allowance, and every oily substance they had was being used; they were unwilling to kill the mules for food till the last point of necessity. ~~~~~

H. B. M, yacht Syren has arrived, bringing Lt. Klchardtion, of the Koval Navy, bearer of despatches to Napier from Sir H. Stewart, British Admiral at Bermuda. ‘ The Herald says the exict purport of the despatches could nut be ascertained, but it is pretty certain they are satisfactory to our Government. Sir H. Stewart disapproves of the extent to which the boarding of American vessels had been carried -by the officers attached to his squadron in (be Gulf. Tho instructions extended no farther than the overhauling of vessels of so very suspicious a character as to warrant it. Tho Admiral had not anticipated the news of the offensive visitations, and be at once took.efficicnt measures to check them; every.step has been taken by him to prevent any recurrence of tbe visits and which have been so .offensive to .the American: public. The particular 'acts in question are condemned> or ascribed Ho < excessive Zeal and, energy ia the prosecution of the search for slaves. The Herald says, lurnot well assured, but itria regarded as. probably, that .the Admiral will palliate the conduct of his : anbordinatason the latter ground, - From tho tfaoronghrdessure* taken by, tho Admiral, reported in detail to Lord Napior.by the despatches in charge of Lt. Ricbardson, there will bo no reason to Tear a renewal of the obnoxious practices on tho put of tbe British gnu* boat commanders,;
