The steamer Susquehanna, that arrived here yesterday morning, came in .contact the night previous with a produce boat near Charleston landing, and sunk it— The night was dark and stormy, and the collision could sot well have been avoided. The fintqnohanna took the boat jo tow, and saved most of the cargo in a damaged condition, which, together with the crew, was brought to this port. The boat belonged to Powell «k Wilson, of Posey township, Switzerland Co., Ind., and the cargo consisted of 162 barrels of floor, 180 barrels of apples, and 6G0 barrels of potatoes; 1 1 ■ ; i

Tbe Louisville and New Orleans packet Rainbow, Capt, Hoi]croft, caught fire at tba head of Island 74, ten mile? above Napoleon, Aik., and totally destroyed. She was a fine boat, and had, 347 passengers onboard. She was rnu ashore, but owing to the excitement from SO to 70 lives were lost, mostly deck passengersi by drowning. Tbe officers were saved, but the books and papers were all lost. She was heavily, loaded, having much mot assies and sugar for Louisville.— Thomas Newhoasc and J. New law, of Carrollton, Ky., were lost. - She was worth 35 or 40,0008, insured lor 18,0008. W. R. and E. P. T. Holleraft were the largest owners.

The Australian house is not compromised by the suspension.
