On Sunday last; a man named Greco Dearer, living a few'miles from here, in Boone county, Ky.*while in a state of intoxication, went to the house of James Doavor, a nephew of his, living only a short distance off, and threatened to shoot him with a double-barreled shot gun, whereupon James Deaver stepped to the ■door and shot him 1 (Green Deaver) with a pistol loaded with two balls. The balls -entered his side and lodged in the liver, where at last accounts they still remained. —Dearer lies m a very critical condition and. will, probably, not recover. James Deaver delivered himself op to the proper authorities of Boone county, and after being examined, was discharged from custody, having committed tha deed in aelf-dor fense. —Biting ,Su|i Visitor.

Thd New-York market, •having a largo stock of sugars, whilo they are inactive and freights to Burape low, holders of hounded goods have commence! shipments to foreign ports aml chiefly to London. The'jfreight engagemntB of sugars this week, mostly to Great Britain, have embraced about 5,000 hhds. f chiefly .from first hands, jibe reduction of duty -on the first proximo will hardly work as much reduction in! prices ns consumers have felt just reason to Hope for; The redaction will bo only about 20 per cent of -the present duty , of SO per cent, or tho duty will be 20 percent instead of 30.— This will give an averagededuction in price on the average invoice cost of only about a half cent per lb., which is probably less than some consumers have been led to suppose; ; I uijtanairLrraVWi r .[■********■ *"*** large Amount of Money Lost—Carelessness.
