Friesd Wsino:—I sea proa; hive commilled W error in your 1 nit' lESUVwIiicb I think should be corrected as I believe all parties bhotild have justice-reeled bet to them, especially in matters of. so much importance a* those about 'which yon were speaking: Yon say M y«t the Democratic parly ia responsible for this elate cf affairs;*' and again; “The record proves that the Democratic majority in (be Senate prevented the transaction of alt this important business,” meaning the failure of the Tax—Revenue—General Appropriation and other important bills, which passed the House, but were not reached in the Senate. Now the reverse of this is true. It will bo recollected by those who read the proceedings of tho last Senate, that the Miller and Bhyiock contested seats was laid over untill two o'clock on the last Saturday of. the session, by the consent of all parties, andmado (bespecial order for that day and hour. But: when the hour arrived, the Democrats-refused to take it up. but were clamorous from that time until the close bt the session, and were continually making motions to take up those very bills that failed to pass; thus showing a desire to pass upon the most important legislation of the State; but the Republicans who had a majority in the Senate, (and not tho Democrats, os yon have it J, refused to the last to let any business be done cntill tho said contested seat was decided; thus showing that they considered that one case of more importance to the people of tho State than the passage of those bills. 1 did not then, nor do I now, by ;any means justify the Democrats in refusing to come to t direct vote upon that contested seat, bat I then held that it was the duly of the Republicans to permit those bills - to come up and be enacted into laws, when they saw that it was impossible to force a yote upon the other case. Had they done so, the State would not now be placed in the condition it is. That seat is not yet decided, nor have we those laws, the enactment of which will require a special session of the Legislature; but which might have been passed had tho majority in the Senate permitted-n.' The Senator from Floyd County, Mr. Crane, had gone home sick, (has leaving the joint vote of the. Democrats and Americans in' the minority; there being tweolyfird Republicans in the Senate. As a general thing, the American.! acted and voted with the Republicans; but for oho, when 1 found that .the Democrats would not let a vote be taken in the Miller case, I considered it of far more importance that those essential laws should be’enasted, and 1 acted and voted . accordingly with, the Democrats to bring them op and pass them. While the Democrats did wrong in sot lotting the Miller 'case como to a vole, the’Republicans did a far greater one,'in not permitting those bills to pais and become laws,'when they rmUt have known that if it was not done, tho wheels of the State Government must be greatly retarded, if not entirely stopped. Besides, as'a-party'move, it Was an error, for ns “rtiu record shows,” they prevented finally the passage of those laws, white (be Democrats were pressing them forward, anxious (b pass them; and thus, with tho “Record” before the people, they will in fulure canvassei gain victories, when, had the' Republicans acted more wisely, ft would, I doubt not, be otherwise. Yours, Ac., . F. 8. Sack.
