I 'Died, on Tuesday- morning,. February , Will, at 3 o’clock, Mrs. Antoinette Morerod, Jrel let of..the late John Daniel Morerod, aged nearly 76 , , v | The. de9eMed,(Qiin .Miss'Antoinetto Dufour) was one of • tho Swiss.CoIony of ! seventeen persons, ; who, on January 2Ut, 1801, left Vovay, i a S wltzcrland, to moke for them sol res a home inthis western world. Three' brothers? andtwo- slaters accompanied her, all of whom, except one eiater, have. pasted away from earth.— They were two montits in crossing France, and «n March 25tb 1 sailed from La Rochelle indha ship “Woodruff.Symines,” bonnd for Norfolk, Virginia, where they landed May 2d. From thence they starlet! for Jessamine County, Kentucky, where John James Dufour had already settled, | arid reached Lexington July 3d.‘ ■. February IGlb, 1803, the deceased;, was married to Mr." John Daniel More rod, (one of the colony,) and in March fdlowing, in company with two other families (Messrs. Bcttons and Siebcnthal) came to this place, and settled on the farm below town whore, for nearly fifty-four years she has resided. She bravely dared the terrors' of’the, wilderness to plant the pleasant amenities of social life in the log cabin. On every ride are the proofs of her thoughtful, self-forgetting coro for tbc wolfaro : of her descendants. . Of her it may be truly said, “sho looked well to the ways of her household, and ate not the'bread of idleness.” She was left a widow some eighteen or nineteen’ years since, bill all her children (except a son who was drowned at the age of eight years) Mir vivo her- . For the last twenty years she was almost a constant miner* r, nud for several years past ba$ been unable to walk, or even to feed herself. Vet. amid all this nfllicttou.sho was uniformly cheerful, indeed, in her, “patience” seemed to-“have her perfect work/' She retained to the last a deep iuturest in all that was going on around her, and trustingly waited “all (he days of her appointed time,” still “having a desire to depart and he with Christ, which is fur better.” During her Ia»t illness no murmur escaped her, but calmly and peacefully she fell “asleep hi Jesus.” w.
