Only 276 votes separated first and second -place leaders today in The Times’ “Miss\ Flame” search to select a queen of the Fire Prevention Demonstration next Sunday afternoon at the State Fairgrounds. Leading is Miss- Betty Wilson, a secretary at Link-Belt Co. Second is Mrs. Maxine Havlland, a. waitress at McClarney’s Famous Restaurant. Backers of the many candidates in the vote race for the coveted honor have until midnight Wednesday to get all their vote coupons to The Times. All mail must be postmarked hy midnight Wednesday or votes may be brought to The Times in person by that time.
