Reds Say 'O Assert Allies
Are Trying to Wreck Parleys
By United Press
MUNSAN, Korea, Sept. 10 -—- Red China said today the Korean armistice talks “are hanging by a thread.” The Chinese government radio at Peiping said the Allies are trying to “wreck the armistice” by using stepped-up warfare as “extortion” in the truce conference in Panmunjom. “No amount of bombs can shake the Korean people's determination to fight to the last” said Peiping. “The Korean armistice talks are hanging by a thread entirely as the result of the American way of negotiating.” It. said the United Nations’ negotiations “amount to extortion and horse-trading.” The truce talks are in their gixth consecutive weekly recess. The next meeting at Panmunjom will be Thursday.
Capitol Hill Retaken
By South Koreans SEOUL, Korea — South Korean infantrymen recaptured Capitol Hill today and held it against two savage Chinese Communist coun-ter-attacks. The victorious Republic of Korea troops scrambled to the rest of the central front height around midnight and chased demoralized Communist defenders down the northern slope. A half hour later they sent this terse message: “The hill is secured.” Eleven Japan-based B-29 Supeérforts razed a Communist ammunition supply center at Sopo, 12 miles northeast of Pyongyang, Tuesday night with more than 100 tons of high explosives. One B-29 shot down a Red night fighter in flames.

TA Dear Homemakers: by LOUIS RAINIER
The guest room has long been the symbol of gracious hospitality, and certainly a tradition which we wish to sustain whenever possible. However, as the youngsters in the family grow up and their interests widen, the demand l for more usable space in the home becomes increasingly | insistent, and the room set aside for occasional overnight I guests must be utilized for other purposes. A small guest bedroom can easily be converted into a versatile secondary | sitting room where family members may find seclusion to | read, study, write. A place to listen undisturbed to a fa- | vorite radio or TV program (sets on display in our Appli- | Bunce Store). Studio Couches, which open into full-sized I beds for sleeping, $89.00 up (Rainier Furniture Store); Twin Chests, $75 each; at either side of a Kneehole Desk, | $49.50 up, add wall interest, provide additional storage I space. Now the room has become a double-duty room, making a daily contribution to family comfort. We have many ideas that will prove to be successful answers to the undersized housing problem. Come in, let us tell you about them. x Sincerely, LOUIS RAINIER and Staff
