Youth, Police | In Smash-Up
A 10-shot barrage of police bullets failed here to halt a near West Side youth suspected of kidnaping and molesting a woman. Instead, the 70-mile-an-hour chase ended in a spectacular smashup of both the suspect's car and that of the accident-preven-tion police car which chased him. Today, police report the man no longer is suspected of molesting and the woman who made, the charge is under arrest for making a false crime report. The chase started early yesterday morning when Ann Nitchell, | 23, Mayesville, Ky., screamed for | help at 21st St. and Olney Ave. Her cries were heard by Police Officers Marion Turner and Rob-| ert Plaskett. She told police she had been kidnaped and molested by George Love, 18, of 808 W. New York St.
Record of 6 Arrests
The youth fled the scene with police in hot pursuit. Roaring! north on Sherman Drive, the youth failed to make a turn at| Millersville Road and crashed through a guard rail into a field. | The police car skidded on loose | gravel at the same place and followed the Love car into the field. Brownson Aids Beardless Gl
War can be hard on a beardless youth. Rep. Charles B. Brownson said today he is investigating the case of a Hoosier soldier in Korea who wants to come home because he has no facial adornment to shave.
Mr. Brownson said the GI wrote he is embarrassed and Army doc-|
tors told him nothing can be done about it. The soldier wants to come back to the United States temporarily for treatment. “It's worrying the boy,” Brownson said, “and if it worries him, I don’t think such a case should be taken lightly.”
Faces Two Charges In Gambling Raid
Adrian Leroy Simpson, 39. of 612 Blake St., today was to face charges of gaming and violation of the 1935 Beverage Act following a police raid early yesterday on a suspected dice game, Simpson and 15 others were arrested at 1701 8. Keystone Ave, by police who used a search war-
