The Park Board today pushed! negotiations to ‘lease the run- | down clubhouse at Coffin Golf Course for a chicken-dinner eat-
ing place. J. Russell Townsend, parks di-
rector, said an Indianapolis con- | cern is willing to renovate the clubhouse and pay annual rent of | more than $1500 on a five-year | lease. ; |
He said the city links can operate without clubhouse space | next summer, since only three men kept locker space there this year. Coffin course loses money on cost of maintenance, Mr. Townsend said. Comparatively few golfers pay the greens fee to play at Coffin, because it is the most difficult course in this area.
Ground Donated
The new playground, consisting of three acres south of School 21 at Rural St. and English Ave. is being donated to the Park Board and School Board jointly by Dr. Marvin H. Sandorf,
Mr. Townsend said the plot will be open to, the public in sum- | mer, and will serve children at |School 21 as a playground during | the sthool term.

Cancer of Breast Called Leading Killer
CHICAGO—Two surgeons said today that cancer of the breast kills more women between the ages of 40 and 60 than any other disease.

The doctors said that one of every five women past 40 develop cancer, most commonly of the breast.
Shipload of Sailors Get New Berths
NEW YORK -- The crews of two aircraft carriers will make naval history today when officers and crewmen of the Antietam exchange positions with those of the Shangri-La. The government ordered the mass transfer to save money. The Antietam is to be here several months for repairs. If her West Coast crew stayed here, the government would have to pay the cost of moving dependents across the country.
