RIVIERA CLUB enthusiasts wil] have to start looking for a new battlefield now that the pool has closed. To cater to those who enjoyed roughing it in the water, the club thoughtfully sectioned off one part of the pool with'ropes calling it the bull pen. ‘And you can fight to your hearts content in this section. : * 8 =» IF YOU want to increase the size of your family, do what Mrs, Carl J. Haas, 8709 N. Meridian 8t., is trying today. Mrs. Haas, who came to Indianapolis from Memphis, Tenn., where she had experience as a kindergarten teacher, opens her own Kindergaten today in her home. Respect Your Parents By RUTH MILLETT HAPPENED in a doctor's air-conditioned waiting room. A Husky 14-year-old boy glanced up from the comic book he was reading and irritably commanded his

mother to “Shut the door.”

It was a rude command, but the mother showed no surprise or resentment. She quietly got up and shut the door. It is likely a small incident, yet gives a good picture of the way a great many teen - agers treat théir parents today. They have been given so many advantages by dot- Ruth Millett ing parents and allowed to ‘“express themselves” for so long they have no respect for anyone. They take, take, take — and never give anything in return, not even thanks.

A mother of a teen-age girl recently confessed to me that she "often takes ‘a carload of junior high school pupils to the mbvies, ball games, and school events and admits it only is a rare 13 or 14-year-old who bothers to say “thank you,”

THAT OF COURSE is because their parents require nothing of them. They've grown to look on all adults as persons who exist just to make life easier for them.

It is a wonderful thing for parents to do all they can for their children provided they demand something in return. When the parents expect nothing in return, nothing is exactly what they get. Not even thanks.
