A GROUP of young East Side Thespians really is taking

the theater to heart.

“The: Footlighters,” as they're

been dubbed, consist of 18 girls and boys who have adopted the motto, “To create better understanding of theater

and arts through experimentation and production.” It .all started in July when the group asked Douglas Conroad, Manual High teacher and Circle Player member, to direct them. Since then, the actors and actresses had been meeting in various homes to rehearse. Last week, they gave thelr first production; “The Jade Necklace,” a mystery comedy, in the .Brookside Evangelical United Brethren Church. : Since most of the players will be headed: for college in a few

weeks, they are passing their

organization on to their youngef brothers and sisters still in high school.

He's taking over chef duties tonight and has promised his family something exotic for dinner. The menu—hash.
