By BETTY LOCHER Times Fashion Editer

IGH SCHOOL girls will have their fashion “daze” Thursday when fashions just for them are modeled at Block's “Strike Up the Band” show in the store's Auditorium, Performances will

be at 4 and 6:30 p. m. Miss Frances Hodges of Seventeen magazine will commentate.

Models will include 17 high school girls who were on last Year's fashion hoard. The 30 new girls will help behind the

scenes. There will be clothes shown for school, dates and dancing.

Eight’ school fashion advisers have been busy the past few weeks in Wasson’'s Teen Age Department giving advice on what to wear—where, when and how. They are Connie Roberts, Broad Ripple; Jeanne Hartman, St. Agnes; Barbara Robinson, Warren Central; Phyllis Theiss, St. Mary; Delpha Clampitt, Tech; Margaret O'Donnell, Manual; Judith Barney, Shortridge, and Ruth Bondy, Howe, » EJ n REAL NEAT looking fashfons will be fancy cords— printed, tweed and iridescent; wool jerseys, plain and plaid, and Orlon. In coats, brushed alpacas and nubby tweeds will take first place. Tweed suits are slicker looking than plaids. They

You'll wear sweaters in new -

ways-—semi-fitted at the waist, taut at the hips, or tucked in your skirt with a wide, elasticized cinch belt. Skirts may be either slim, full or pleated, according to your whim. You'll love the new Orlon plaid pleated

skirts. You can dunk them in soap and water and they'll come up smiling and still pleated.

Blackwood on Bridge— Loser-on-Loser

F ALL the “fancy” plays ‘in bridge, the most glamorous is undoubtedly the squeeze. But

a poor relation in the field of fine plays is of more practical value—and is overlooked constantly. I refer to the loser-on-loser play. Many players who can talk pretty intelligently about squeezes would find it hard to recognize and execute the loser-on-laser device. South in today's hand was not one of these. After making only a simple overcall on his good hand, he took a shot at game after hearing his partner's free raise,

that she had to 10se a spade, a heart and very probably two clubs, since clubs had been bid and rebid on his left, How would you play the hand? Well, South figured he had a chance if he could keep his

right-hand opponent out of the lead so that a club could not be led through his king. If East had the ace of spades, this would be impossible. If Fast had both outstanding heart honors, it would still be very difficult. But not impossible.

”n ” o SOUTH played as follows: At trick two he led a trump and West took the ace. The jack of diamonds was returned and won on the board with the ace. The four of hearts was led and South killed East's queen with the ace. Dummy was entered with a trump and the nine of diamonds was led. Here South discarded his jack of hearts which was a anyway. But this put West in the lead with no good return. He could cash the ace of clubs but that was all. Nothing could prevent South from pulling the 10 of hearts through East, ruffing out the king and setting two

good hearts on the board for club discards.
