Indianapolis League Of

A NEW group of “salesmen” will make their

first calls here Friday. : They are Indianapolis

Teague of Women Voters finance committee members. And on that day they'll open the league's annual drive for funds. “It's really a sales campaign,” explains Mrs. W. Foster Montgomery, the-go- getting league finance chairman. “Our first objective is to ‘sell’ the league and its varied activities to civic - minded community leaders. When they understand what the league is and what it js trying to do most of them are glad to contribute to our efforts to further good government."

” y ~ FRIDAY'S kick-off luncheon and training session will be in the home of Mrs. J. A. Goodman, 301 W, Kessler Blvd. First interviews will he made after the luncheon. The drive continues through Sept, 20. Preparing the campaign has kept Mrs. Montgomery and her committee busy most of the

summer, “This is no door-to-door solicftation.” Mrs. Montgomery

says. “We visit only those people who have a record of interest in thelr community, those who are expected to be interested in our purpose of encouraging citizen participation in government. It's really a compliment to be included in our list of prospects. It's made up only of public-spirited citizens.” uy ~ ~ TRAINING workers, those who actually make the calls, is the next big job. Sales kits bulging with league info are prepared, Workers brush up on

Mrs. room trouble solved for you. It all has to do with table space when you want to exhibit your wedding gifts or

have a buffet dinner.. When Mrs. Woods’ daughters got married, she too had difficulty trying to keep the house in sane arrangement yet show off all the gifts. Consequently, she thought of a table service, The shellacked tables come in two heights enabling the hostess to achieve a staggered effect in arrangement. And since May, as a hobby or project, Mrs. Woods has been collecting these tables and has them available for friends to use. . =n 8 . THERE'LL be an alr of Informality surrounding the L. R. Thomas home, 5219 Kenwood Ave., tomorrow. Eighteen couples will gather there to have a picnic on the Thomas's grounds. Among the guests will be Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Thé best part of the job is the success he's had. George Smith, one of his pupils and an entry in the novice group, won the City Parks boy's champlonship.

~ ~ w “WF'LL BE together again" were the parting words Mrs, Edna Rommell, W. 73d St., uttered to her sister, Mrs. Foster Kurtz, yesterday as she saw her off at the airport. Mrs. Kurtz left Helsinki for Indianapolis during the Olympics to keep a promise she'd made her sister 20 years ago. At that time, Mrs. Rommell Jett her native country to come 10 America promising to get together with her aister in 20 Years. Their next reunion will be in Helsinki in 1953.
