Toastin’ or roastin’ parties make fall a wonderful season. Toasting marshmallows after an autumn picnic or roasting “hot dogs” as the only hot dish on a hike is real |
4 (fun.
Glenn Miller made some weiner or toastin' forks by bending coat-hanger wire and found that they work just as well as those you buy at the store. He suggests that you plan a picnic, then make one of these for each one of your group. Two or three types are shown above, and all that is| needed to make them is a few coat hangers and some wirecutting pliers. The fork at the left shows a hanger cut lat “X” so that the hook remains as a handle or hook for ‘hanging. The side wires are straightened, then twisted around a block of wood to form a fork as shown. Remove ithe block and sharpen the points with a file. The marsh‘mallow fork is just a straightened coat hanger, while the one on the right has the hook cut off and a new double fork twisted on. |
