Lead Her Back to Jail

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 22—A platinum blonde divorcee’'s attempts to keep the spark of love still glowing for her and her tuzzy-cheeked boy friend led her pack to jail today. Shapely, 28-year-old Virginia Le Tourneau was ordered jailed vesterday for attempting to slip love notes to 17-year-old Jimmy Sherwin in the juvenile detention home. He has been held there since authorities found him traveling around the country with Mrs. Le Tourneau. “Everyone makes a joke of this

it's no joke. I love Jimmy.”

Faces Hearing Mrs. Le Tourneau pleaded guiltv last week to one of five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She faces a hearing Sept. 10 on that plea and disposition of the other four charges. The note she attempted to send to the boy, who teok a 10,000mil trip through the West with her and her 10-year-old son, was smeared with the lipstick imprin# of her lips. It said: “Darling: Hold out. I love you, Jimmy, more every day. Don't let anyone tell you different. Darling, I have to see you soon as life without you is terrible. I love you.” : It was signed “Blue Eyes.” | The note and a picture were, intercepted after she made two] attempts to slip them to the gangling youth through a trusty. |

Jobless Pay Claims Drop 25%' in Week

Unemployment in Indiana is| “rapidly decreasing,” the State] Employment Security Division re-| ported today. { The division said 25 per cent fewer jobless pay claims were! filed during the week ending Aug.! 16 than in the preceding week. | Total number of claims decreased 13,600, and there were, 1000 fewer initial claims. |

New Engineering Head SOUTH BEND, Aug. 22 (UP)! —Studebaker - Corp. today an-! nounced the appointment of Harold E. Churchill as vice president in charge of engineering, succeeding Stanwood W. Sparrow, who was killed in a traffic accident. Mr. Churchill, a native of Penn, Mich.,, has been with Studebaker since 1926. He has been director of research since 1948.
